5.0 out of 5 stars Best java book on the market, August 27, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Java How to Program with an Introduction to Visual J++; With CDROM (Paperback)
For all of you who want to program in Java, beginners and experts alike, this book is No. 1. Many many tips give you not only knowledge of syntax, but the spirit and the concept of the book. It's very good for beginners who need to get to the programmers way of thinking. It's big, but every word is important. In short, it's the best self teaching book I have ever read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Examples, June 2, 1998
Most programing books give you tons of syntax and not enough examples. Whenever I was looking of a particular answer I would find it in the examples.

3.0 out of 5 stars THE DETAIL WAS EXHAUSTING, April 14, 1997
By A Customer
A fat book that was a labor to finish. It is designed and written for an undergraduate college course at an engineering school. MANY MANY MANY AND I MEAN MANY problems/questions at the end of each chapter. Problems/exercises are academic exercises to teach java, not real world programming problems. It is not perfect, but there does not appear to be anything better
