3.0 out of 5 stars Great explanation but many mistakes in his example, January 13, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Java Sourcebook (Paperback)
Java Sourcebook is an excellent java book for people who want to start learning java language. Ed Anuff, the author of Java Sourcebook, explains the basic of java language very well. However, he did not do very well in his code examples. There are a couple mistakes in his examples and sometimes his codes did not make the material that he had explained before became clearer.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best explanation of packages, October 6, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Java Sourcebook (Paperback)
This is an excellent introductory Java book. In particular it has the most in-depth discussion concerning how to create one's own packages. Other books twice this size have at most one dinky paragraph stating in effect 'place package PACKAGENAME at the top of the source file'. Well there's a lot more to it than that and this text actually tells you where the compiler looks for files and how to amend the CLASSPATH. I was thoroughly impressed.
