5.0 out of 5 stars The cover is a little silly but the contents are great!, July 17, 2004

If you have a few other "beginning" Java books on your shelf and they've not worked for you, buy this one. It is readable and it makes no assumptions that you know Java vernacular. If you have some innate programming skills but have never gotten Java onto your toolbelt, this is the book for you.

I've learned Java with this book by reading one chapter a day at my local Starbucks. I had to buy another copy of the book because my boss kept my first copy :)
