This book is fantastic: It shows you and guides you step by step on the material and exercises. The Webpage for the book (listed on page #3) is great: The documentation and examples are clear and easy to follow. For beginners like me, Google Chrome has a
"Tools->JavaScript Console" application where one can enter commands and see results dynamically. In addition, Firefox has an application called "Scratchpad" that can also be used to experiment with JavaScript.

I use this book as a companion to a course I'm taking. The book is well layed out with coding labs and self tests at the end of every chapter.

Excellent EXCEPT the topic of DOM! Plain English and easy to follow. If more examples and exercises can be provided, I think we can learn much efficiency.

Author can create a summary of all provided Javascript syntax into a table format. Then we can easy to find out what we need during our work.

This is my textbook for a college level class. I learn by doing. For me, the only deficiency is there are not enough problems to work.

I used this book as my college textbook and I liked it. This book is great for beginning programmers as it explains the code very well, and it has examples to demonstrate what you learn. The only complaint that I had, but isn't enough for me o lower the rating, is that it IS for beginning programmers. I have prior programming experience, so the first few chapters in the book were rather boring as it went over the basic syntax for things that I already know.

If you are looking to purchase this book and you do not have prior programming experience, then get it! If you do have prior programming experience, then the first 1/3 of the book will be a bit boring as it explains allot of the basic syntax that you will already know.

I enjoyed the format of this book, and I look forward to purchasing and learning from other books in this series.

This is indeed a beginner's book. I like the assignments not to tough but they do show what is explained in the book.

I gave it a 4 star rating because of the lists of procedures and methods. I found them to be most helpful even if the book did not explain everyone of them. I was able to get a lot of them to work.
You will still need more instructions after this but it is definitely for beginners.

I've only had this book for a few days and I'm already getting a lot of use out of it. Unlike many "how-to" books, it's laid out in a way that meshes well with me for some reason and contrary to what I thought was possible, I'm on my way along the JavaScript coding path.
Recommended.
