Book Description

JavaScript used to be notoriously difficult to work with. Everything had to be written from scratch, every browser worked differently, and common development niceties like debuggers didn’t exist. Now JavaScript has all of the tools that developers need. Libraries like jQuery, AngularJS, Backbone.js and Ember.js make it easier to support a wide variety of browsers. Unit testers like Yui Test and QUnit make it possible to write rock solid, tested code. And all modern browsers included a suite of developer tools to ease the pains of building web apps.

We have chosen in this bibliography a selection of JavaScript books that can take you from newbie all the way to ninja. Begin by learning the basics and best practices. Once you are comfortable, move onto more advanced topics like unit testing, performance enhancements, and design patterns. Learn how libraries like AngularJS, Backbone.js, Ember.js and jQuery can increase your productivity. Step into the fast growing world of mobile development with web frameworks like jQuery Mobile and cross-platform frameworks like PhoneGap. And finally, go full circle with JavaScript on the server with Node.js. With JavaScript you can create dynamic websites for desktop and mobile browsers, create fast and efficient servers, and build apps to sell for nearly every smartphone market place. JavaScript’s popularity is poised for continued growth and this bibliography can help you to grow your JavaScript skills.

3.0 out of 5 stars I downloaded this book 'coz it was free August 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded this book 'coz it was free. There isn't much to learn anything from book, the book just mentions the references of other books and resources.

5.0 out of 5 stars I found it to be a useful freebie December 7, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is now a freebie and I found it useful. I don't use Javascript at my day job, but wanted to learn it as Javascript is a useful language to have on your resume. I started by learning the basic through on-line tutorials, and after writing my first application wanted to take it to the next level with jQuery, Mootols, Dojo, and ExtJS.

This Bibliography provides a nice selection of books for JavaScript development including all the topics I was interested in. The bibliography is organized by giving the book title, author's name, isbn number, price and the number of pages in the book. The basic information is followed by a one paragraph description the book content. Each entry provides a direct link to Safari Books Online, and offers a free trial of this service. Useful for the reader and a good marking approach.

This bibliography allowed me to quickly select two books to purchase to further my JavaScript expertise.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy September 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I have no idea why Amazon added the Bibliography and What Is series of O'Reilly to their Kindle store and I'm even more baffled that they are actually charging money for them when O'Reilly is offering them DRM-free at zero cost.

The Bibliography is more of a catalogue than prose and even the What Is series seems to be intended to be more of a teaser than something you're expected to pay for.

I don't know who decided to put a price tag on these, but unless you feel like donating, you shouldn't buy them.

1.0 out of 5 stars don't waste your time with this July 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I wouldn't waste your time with this one. It's only a list of works, there's no information that is useful.

A list of books, themed on Javascript, separated into chapters for those who are beginning, advanced, as well as on related issues, AJAX, DOM, Mobile.
As the title, author, date of publication, price, pages, and a brief description of the book.
Not useful for me.
