2.0 out of 5 stars A Complete Beginners Book:
This book does not conform W3C HTML4.0 or XHTML1.0 specifications. So, the introduced instructions are O.K. for today, but will become obsolete in the future. Although, this time span also depends on browser producers to some extend. Therefore, if you are a beginner's beginner who is only interested to build your own modest personal web page by writing your own HTML code,...

Not only am I a visual learner but I learn by doing. This book makes it so easy to jump in and start with its practical graphically oriented step by step lessons. To drive the lessons home each chapter ends with practice exercises and each subsequent chapter builds on previous learning. In addition, the book includes a summary HTML Tag Chart for that allows for quick reference. Teaching yourself a new skill can be daunting especially when learning a new computer program from a complicated manual. This is a great book for beginners making learning easy with out the challenge of having to decipher the instructions themselves.

This book does not conform W3C HTML4.0 or XHTML1.0 specifications. So, the introduced instructions are O.K. for today, but will become obsolete in the future. Although, this time span also depends on browser producers to some extend. Therefore, if you are a beginner's beginner who is only interested to build your own modest personal web page by writing your own HTML code, then this may be your book. On the other hand, if you are planning to learn HTML and beyond, then this book will give you bad coding habit, for starter. The subjects are covered with lots and lots of drawings, pictures, windows, etc. rather than written instructions for every step. If you are planning to use plain text processor for learning how to code your own web pages, in hurry and without too much theoretical hassle, this book may help you out. On the other hand, the title should not mislead you. There are only three copy and paste Javascript examples in this book. Do not expect anything like introduction to javascripting with the help of this book.

So often you have to wade through reams of prose to find the information you need. "HTML & JavaScript for Visual Learners" is a clear, concise, and fully undertandable way to build a Web site without resorting to third party tools (which always add their own code anyway). Each lesson helps the learner build on previously learned material, and multi-paged interactive Web sites are built step-by-step. It's also an excellent just-in-time learning tool when your memory needs help! A gem for the novice! I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars These are truly the best manual yet!, May 30, 2001

I've been a college instructor over thirty years! Subject matter, computer software. Believe I've seen just about every possible instructional manual ever published. These "Visibooks" are the best, with out a doubt! With these manuals there's no way a student wanting to learn can't achieve his/her (her/his) goals. I find the writings are to the point, no reading and re-reading trying to understand what to do next.

5.0 out of 5 stars HTML & JavaScript for Visual Learners, May 30, 2001
This review is from: HTML & JavaScript for Visual Learners (Spiral-bound)
I just wanted you to know that I think the visibooks for visual learners is an excellent concept. I am a visual learner and have reviewed your html & javascript for visual learners book. I've reviewed other books but this one seemed to bring it altogher. The book goes through the coding of a web site in a step-by-step process, where the text is augmented by the accompanying illustrations. I never felt lost, as I was able to see exactly how the text I had just read, was to be displayed on the screen. If I made an error, I was able to look back at the code and go line by line and see where the miscue occured. Great book for those who are tired of books filled with pages, upon pages of text. Finally, a book geared toward those who learn visually. My understanding of coding a web site has increasd immensely. I recommend it highly.

What a great book! I think of myself as a visual learner, and I appreciate all the illustrations that show what to do. When I look at the page, I see what I need to do, then I can practice it. The book makes things simple without making me feel like a "dummy". I will definitely check out more of their books.
