A Very strong title for Developers,
By
This review is from: Javascript Unleashed (Paperback)
As a web developer, I found this book invaluable. The author covers such topics as interbrowser compatibility, the document object model, LiveWire and more. It is divided into well defined chapters with clear and easy to follow examples. This is NOT a book for persons looking for "I don't care how it works, gimme code I can slap on my web site". It is geared towards developers entering into web based development.

Great book for heavy duty programmers!,

Unlike the first 3 reviewers, I am a software engineer who LIKES TO PROGRAM. My complaint with other Javascript books is that they are too lightweight and there is not enough information besides how to make cute web pages. I consulted this book frequently during the development of a large project, and it never let me down. There was information on every topic I needed, and examples with enough substance that I could take it from there. This book spans the simple to the complicated, so you get a lot of value out of this book - this book will remain useful as your skills grow.

This book is the best book for starters and people who want to have a complete JavaScript reference book. I spent 5 hours in book store this summer in the States just looking for the best book for starters, and believe me this is it.

Unleashed, Unfocused, Unimpressive, but not Uninformative!,

This review is from: Javascript Unleashed (Paperback)
Javascript Unleashed (second edition) is aimed at the wrong audience. It is clearly intended for programmer/developers who see Javascript as one more development tool to master. However, Web page designers who want to use Javascript as a quick and dirty method for upgrading their web sites will be disappointed. Although it contains plenty of useful information, readers will have to wade through a lot of details most people won't want. What it needs is a great deal more practical how-to tips that can satisfy the need for web page enhancements without forcing readers to become Javascript "adepts". It also needs to be written in a clearer style. The chapter on Acadia Infuse (which it openly promotes) needs to be expanded and rewritten. On the whole, however, its a reasonable effort

Review: JavaScript Unleashed - Second Edition,
This review is from: Javascript Unleashed (Paperback)
This has to be the best JavaScript refrence available. All the JavaScript is compatiable with version 3.x browsers to help you learn how to write for all web browsers. Also the Electronic library that is included with this title is very helpful. Recomended to ALL web developers who are using JavaScript.

Maybe the second edition will be better,

I made the classic mistake when I purchased this book, "It's huge! It must tell you how to do everything!" I was wrong. Most of the book is written more like some Netscape white paper. There are very few parts of the book with real-world examples, tricks, or even crappy examples that get the point across. Try Danny Goodman's Javascript Handbook & Javascript Bible. For the more experienced programmer, try David Flanagan's Javascript: The definitive reference. Don't waste almost 50 bucks on this

Good book for novices.,

This is really good book for novices in creating Web pages, but I'would not reccomend it for somebody expiriensed, because the book contains a lot of information, that expirience users wouldn't want to read.
