The hard- plastic shoe is 8 inches long and 5 inches wide and has a sliding angled piece to hold the cards in place. Each new card falls forward into the exit slot, which has a keyhole cutout to draw the card out. This is the answer for older folks with arthritic hands which make it difficult to shuffle cards...plus it's fun to use. Not sure how durable it will prove to be, but we will definitely buy another if and when this one wears out.
