5.0 out of 5 stars Pegs in the Park Game
I was very pleasantly surprised with this game. It has much more educational value than most other pre-school age boargames out there! My son learned to recognize his numbers within 2 weeks of playing this game. (Of course he had to play it every night for a few weeks!) But he could read addresses, prices, phone numbers, everything! I highly recommend this game...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good children's game!
The concept of this game is age appropriate. The functionality of the game is very poor. The holes on the board are too close together and children will struggle "pegging" out the numbers. Further, the shape of the pegs only adds to the difficulty in counting. Due to the lip at the bottom of the peg (to help it stand), the child is blind to the holes as they are...

4.0 out of 5 stars fun but not for long, April 10, 2003

more fun for adults than other kids games, pegs in the park helps kids learn addresses and phone numbers and some other stuff. very simple to play and some fun for all, i found the pieces help up to kid level abuse, such as throwing, biting etc. the only drawback was that after awhile they lost interest in the game and moved on to other things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Number Recognition/Counting Game Ever, June 30, 2004

= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

This game is so great for kids to have fun while they learn their numbers and start their counting skills. The cards have a number on them, and the same "number" of a cute, fun "thing", for instance the #10 is always ice cream cones...the 5 is always ducks. Your child has to count the items on the card to know how many spaces to move. Once they have counted the number of items several times, the recognize the number! My son learned his numbers 1-10 within weeks of receiving this game for his 3rd birthday. The game also "grows" with your child. It has a set of "minus" cards, which you may add to the deck when your child starts learning to subtract. All in all this is a well made game which children love to play, and offers so much more educational value than the typical pre-school games out there! It may cost a little more, but it is well worth it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for neighbors, June 4, 2004

We live in a rural area and our little guy just turned 5 so it's a great game when our closest neighbor (who is also 5) gets to come over. It keeps the boys busy reinforcing their numbers, colors, and directions. It's also a great competative toy where they learn that in games of chance someone always comes in last. For more fun we just omit the minus cards altogether!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good children's game!, February 23, 2007
This review is from: Pegs In The Park (Toy)
The concept of this game is age appropriate. The functionality of the game is very poor. The holes on the board are too close together and children will struggle "pegging" out the numbers. Further, the shape of the pegs only adds to the difficulty in counting. Due to the lip at the bottom of the peg (to help it stand), the child is blind to the holes as they are trying to count them. For my child, his frustration at not being able to count and move turned quickly into boredom and disinterest.

Close - but not actually a good game for 4 year olds.

2.0 out of 5 stars I wouldn't buy it again, November 6, 2002

Maybe 3 was just too young. My son does not care for the toy at all. The pictures were appealing and he calls it the "ice cream game", however that alone was not enough to convince him that actually playing it would be fun. He's more attached to the game "LIFE" and driving the little cars along the paths.
