My son adores Jay Jay & the other characters from Tarrytown. I purchased numerous wooden toys from this Jay Jay collection and we have had nothing but disappointment from them. The paint starts peeling from the wooden bodies almost immediately after opening the package, pieces fall off of the bodies (engines, props, tail sections, plastic faces, etc) and the general construction is shoddy. The paint flakes are concerning, the small pieces are a choking hazard & generally the toys do not last! I would avoid these toys at any price...including free!

My son just turned 3 and loves Jay Jay and Friends. We purchased his first Jay Jay about 8 months ago and found that he was able to pull off one of Jay Jay's engines under his wing. Obviously this is a choking hazard. Thinking that perhaps we had a dud, we purchased a second plane to find that our son was able to pull off one of his tail wings; again a choking hazard. While they can be put back on with wood glue, it is concerning that both of the planes had pieces that a 2-3 yeard old could pull off. Have not had this trouble with any others in the group.

My kids loved it, but the wood & paint chipped within 2 weeks as well as the tire just popped off and the all the metal screws rusted. (It hasn't been exposed to any salt water and just a little 'normal' kid water.)

The replic is perfect. My 2 years old boy likes this toy very much, although it is not his favorite (he loves Jay Jay on TV but he doesn't love as much his toy). Besides, one of the engine is broken. I think is very delicated toy for a 2 years old. Anyway, it is really beautiful. I think is a toy to exhibit, not so much for playing at this age.

My son loves this toy, but he also loves the series. We have had jay jay since Christmas and he has played with it every day.
Very durable except for a few chips of paint off the wing tips. Comes with a 100 year gurantee in the package.

My [...] son loves Jay Jay and has a fun time playing with these characters on his airplane table. However, almost all of the wooden characters are broken in some way. Jay Jay broke the day we got him and since then his paint is chipped and one wing is detaching from his body. Similar things have happened to the rest of the Tarrytown Gang. I wish these toys were as sturdy as our Thomas Trains.

We have many of the Jay Jay characters and all are poorly made, very disappointing as our daughter LOVES JJ and playing with them. The paint chipped almost immediately after purchase, the parts fall off, the plastic propeller pieces break off & create choking/cutting hazards. These can't endure the typical 'wear & tear' of the 3yr+ crowd & our daughter has been fairly gentle with them. They don't survive a drop off her play table. I would advise against purchasing these until they are more durable like Thomas pieces.

I have found soft Jay Jay Characters at johnnys toys and at babiesrus. My son has a large soft Big Jake and a smaller Jay Jay. We love all the Jay Jay products!

My two children love all the Jay Jay wooden toys. They have all of them except two that we've been looking for. I'm not sure about the negative review. My children have had these toys for years and still play with them all of the time. I'm actually surprised at just how durable they are. We carry them with us everywhere!

I wish there was more Jay Jay stuff available. This is a nice one. Just wish there were more choices.
