James R. Adams : Not a fan, so his review is inaccurate,
By Karen Mitchell (Fort Wayne, IN USA) - See all my reviews

If you don't appreciate the Kevin Smith Films to date, don't bother reading this. If you saw the film, and can't get enough of it, then this book is ideal. Buying this book and expecting under 200 "F" words or an apology for the language, one must be either unaquainted with the title characters or any of their exploits from 5 DVD's and numerous other print sources, or simply naive. Religious zealots will not enjoy much of this script, as many do not find humor based on oral sex and nuns funny. The irreverant tone is what makes the film, and this book is just the same in a hard copy. If you missed some of the jokes, inside or not, in print they can become more clear. Marshall Willenholly, for example is not only the Law enforcement officer chasing our heroes, but also the three first names of the family in Land of the Lost. Jokes like that can be detected more clearly in this easy to read and understand format. I cannot recommend it enough.

The best script of the summer,
By Clyde Pennamon (Houston, Texas United States) - See all my reviews

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back has become a soon-to-be classic among independent comedies. Kevin Smith has establish himself as being a take no prisoner writer/director. Having all of his characters returning for this final chapter in the New Jersey Chronicles is not only a treat, but a pretty sweet fairwell.See the movie, buy the book. Trust Me.

A must-read for any aspiring Kevin Smith fanboy,

This review is from: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back: A Screenplay (Paperback)
I watched Jay and Silent Bob without ever seen any of the previous Kevin Smith films (Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Clerks, etc.) and found it to be genuinely entertaining. Going back to see it now after watching his other films makes it even more entertaining for the inside jokes. Kevin Smith is no doubt one of the great minds in Hollywood (or New Jersey at least), and gives moviegoers something they have sorely been missing for a long time ... dialogue. Yeah, those exchanges between characters on the screen that are meant to develop the characters and story while at the same time entertain you. His technique reminds me of classic films like Some Like It Hot where the comedy is not only in what the characters are saying and doing, but the motivations that drive them to their madness. With all the bad comedies out there, a purely funny and tongue-and-cheek movie like J&SB Strike Back is a great refresher. Besides, who couldnt be drawn into a story about a man and his monkey?

So Long, Jay and Silent Bob?,
By
This review is from: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back: A Screenplay (Paperback)
Here is the complete screenplay of Kevin Smith's magnum opus, complete with all the lines and bits the verbally incontinent writer/director was unable to fit into the finished film. The foreword is a heartfelt tribute to Jason Mewes (Jay). Smith claims that the guy is really acting a role, and not just playing himself. Uh-huh. Smith is, of course, the creator of some of the most hilarious and elaborate [gas] and fart jokes ever conceived, and that shows up here in full force. But he is also a writer of great perception, subtlety, and invention, and that also peeks through from time to time. Supposedly Smith is now, like Woody Allen, going on to make more mature films like the upcoming "Jersey Girl." I hope he doesn't leave out the funny. It's his special gift.

Read Some of the Snappiest, Most Hilarious Dialog Ever,
By
This review is from: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back: A Screenplay (Paperback)
Kevin Smith is the master of delivering snappy, intelligent, and HILARIOUS dialog in his films, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is no exception. The storyline is fairly simple, in a Kevin Smith way: local stoners & sometime dealers Jay and Silent Bob find out there's going to be a movie made about comic book characters based on them, read a few nasty comments about it on the Internet, and decide to trash the movie. Basically, the story is more a vehicle for an homage to the previous Jersey flicks featuring the improbable duo, with appearances by nearly every character from the previous films. That, however, doesn't stop Smith from putting some of the funniest dialog ever into the mouths of all those characters, and reading the screenplay is almost as good as watching the movie so heavily dependent on said dialog is the story (though you miss out on some pretty cute girls!)

The best summer 2001 movie now comes in book form!!,
By "clffburton" (Baltimore, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back: A Screenplay (Paperback)
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was the funniest movie of 2001 hands down. And now you can read it!Jay and Silent Bob learn of a movie being made called Bluntman and Chronic. It's based on a comic that was based on them. When they find out that they aren't getting money from it, and that countless people are making fun of them on the internet, they set out to Hollywood to destroy the movie. It's got more laughs than American Pie 2 and Rush Hour 2 combined. If you laughed at those, you'll be rolling in the aisle while seeing this one. Now that you can read the screenplay, you can read all of the parts that were cut from the film version. Buy this now!!!

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is a laugh a minute, amazingly funny movie, and even more so to fans of Smith's other films. the flick is loaded with inside jokes for those who have seen Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Dogma, (and don't forget the short lived Clerks cartoon on ABC).Jay and his Hetero Life-Mate, Silent Bob, Score a big hit with this one. A terrific movie and the screenplay brings back all the memories. So go buy it, and help a brother out!

Sick humor,
By James R. Adams (Pink Hill, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back: A Screenplay (Paperback)
Does this Kevin jerk ever tire of filthy language? His "movies" (if they can be called that) are really sick - would be entertaining to a point IF one could discard the filth. These "movies" are NOT for human consumption and certainly not for decent minded folks. Watch the grass grow - it is FAR more entertaining.
