5.0 out of 5 stars Jay &Silent Bob Rock Out
This is a great soundtrack, with new tracks from Stroke 9, The Bloodhound Gang, Marcy Playground and more, plus classics such as Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" and Bon Jovi's "Bad Medicine." Throw in a ton of hilarious clips from the movie and you've got a soundtrack done right. Plus, it's enhanced with the exclusive "Jay's Rap" video and trailers from ALL of Kevin...

2.0 out of 5 stars This CD follows the first rule of the unwritten book
I bought this without thinking, because I thought the Morris Day and the Time track would be good to have, and it seemed like there were other songs in the movie I liked. I made the mistake of buying it at list price, even. So basically for my $19, probably the best song on here is by Bon Jovi, and that's not good. Okay, you get a good Run DMC cut, and the Time's...

This soundtrack pretty much follows the same formula as the Mallrats cd, soundbite-song-soundbite-song, but the music isn't just alternative bands. There's numerous other soundtracks I wish did that, like Dumb and Dumber for instance. Anyway, The music is as diverse as PJ Harvey, Bon Jovi, and Afroman. Not every song is a winner, but most fit. The big plus though is hearing Jay, Will Ferrell and Chris Rock between tracks. It will take you right back to the movie, along with some "doobie snacks". Too bad the movie wasn't better.

4.0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS SOUNDTRACK (but first see the movie), September 6, 2001

This is not only a great movie but is has a kick...soundtrack. But you really should see the movie first. The cd is full of great audio clips, but some don't make any sense if you haven't seen the movie. And on that note,SEE THIS MOVIE!!! If you love Kevin's movies, this one is the best. It ties all previous ones together (exept Dogma, but it's mentioned). Characters from Dante and Randall to Holden and Banky all make cameos. The movie is great, the cd is great, and Jay and Silent Bob ROCK!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kevin Smith Strikes Back, August 7, 2001
This review is from: Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (Audio CD)
The film guru himself Kevin Smith not only gathers a plethora of stars for his next film, he also manages to collect a great group of songs for the accompanying soundtrack. As with Smith's other movie soundtracks, this one has got songs and audio clips from one of the most ecclectic group of artists ever. From Bon Jovi to the Bloodhound Gang to one of the all time greatest songs ever... Magic Carpet Ride. If you are a fan of Smith's movies this CD is definetly for you. If you aren't a fan... you should buy it anyways. The added audio clips are hilarious and if you are not already satisfied, Afroman's new song "Because I Got High" (as heard on the Howard Stern Show) makes your purchase all worth while. So what are you waiting for?!? Snoogans!

The JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK soundtrack offers a good time. However, if you are looking for "Jungle Love" the way you remember it from PURPLE RAIN, you need to get ICE CREAM CASTLE by [Morris Day] and the Time. The version of the song on this soundtrack is live. It's a good live, but it's different.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the funniest Soundtracks!!!, August 8, 2001
By A Customer

This CD rocks! Great eclectic mix of songs. Sound bites are absolutely hilarious. Then to top it all off, the impossible to find song by Afroman is also included on the disc. Kevin Smith fans pick this CD up immediately. You will not be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars This time it's personal..., August 7, 2001
This review is from: Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (Audio CD)
It's good to see that Kevin Smith, director of the movie that spawned this soundtrack, continues to be able to apply his warped sense of humour (which I love) to the music he selects. Where else would you find Bon Jovi on the same CD as PJ Harvey? If you like his previous soundtracks (Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, etc.) then the chances are you'll like this. Good music, excerpts from the movie and Bon Jovi - what else is there?

4.0 out of 5 stars "15 bucks little man...", June 8, 2002
This review is from: Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (Audio CD)
The soundtrack to Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back is a rather nice collection of eclectic tunes that fit the movie perfectly, though to me it's not as memorable as the Clerks soundtrack. Afroman's "Because I Got High" is hilarious, as is the tongue in cheek "Kick Some Ass" by Stroke 9. Other classic tracks by Steppenwolf and Bon Jovi add a nostalgic flair, while soundclips from the movie, especially Chris Rock's, round out a nice package. The computer segments are a nice touch as well, and Kevin Smith fans will no doubt eat this up.

I can't wait for the movie. I can't wait for the movie. I can't wait for the movie.... For now, though, the soundtrack! And, yes, it is good! Cool blasts from the past from Bon Jovi, Steppenwolf, Run DMC, and Morris Day & The Time; that amazing song that plays during the intro to "Chasing Amy" (it is by Dave Pirner, if you don't know); a great new cut from an underrated band I personally like a lot, Stroke 9; tons of great dialogue samples (one from Will Ferrell made me fall out of my chair); and some other cool music; plus some awesome multimedia stuff make this disc a must-buy for any fan of Kevin Smith's crazy world, anyone wishing to keep up with the state of pop culture, and the rest of the world too. What are you waiting for?!?
