I really can't say this album is better than "Donuts" because that was a special album for myself and many but Jay Stay Paid is a much "harder" album than the previous....HARDCORE!

this cd is very good with a lotta dope beats but the only thing is there isnt much rappin on here. i did not know that myself... it is mostly instrumentals. the beats are very good but i was thinking it was gonna be more of a compilation. still a very good effort from the late j dilla def pick it up!

This album is very good and I could not recommend it more. for those who liked donuts, there are some really good donut-ish instrumental tracks on this cd as well as a good mix of guest appearances. in my opinion it is the perfect mixture of instrumentals and songs with lyrics and flows very well from song to song.

It's true that this album doesn't quite live up to the greatness of Donuts, but it still contains a collection of extremely solid and worthy beats that showcase Dilla's heavy creativity. The beats are multilayered, sophisticated, full of big, fat low end and several of them are totally bangin'. Definitely worth the purchase, I don't regret buying it in the least. My top-rated tracks are numbers 3, 15, and 16, although I also gave track numbers 8, 9, 11, 20, and 25 four stars. Any album with 8 great tracks like that on it is worth buying, but many of the rest of the tracks are also totally worth listening to.

I am an big time JDilla fan, hear is a testament to what good music can do to affect your everyday life in a positive way. Peace to Ma Dukes and Pete Rock for blessing us with more from your favorite producers favorite producers. It is such a tragedy that with all of the contributions this brother gave to hip-hop he still somehow goes under the radar with all of this bubble gum pop-hop that is readily available to lull you back to sleep. A few of them have rhyming on top, many do not.

The beats are fantastic, it gets my five stars for the beats alone.

Innovative and funky, mixing samples and keyboards.

big up to Pete Rock and Ma Dukes for putting this album together. it's mostly instrumental w/ a few guest appearances. fans of Dilla won't be dissappointed w/ this album! R.I.P. J Dilla.

RIP DILLA!

Dilla was always a favorite producer of mine before he passed away and he remains one of my favorites. This is a 25 track collection that plays out a bit like a radio station with Pete Rock providing the commentary. This CD is just plain dope. People complain about the format and the lack of rappers, but none of that detracts from what is dope dope music. These are some Dilla's best beats. 1 or 2 don't hit as hard, hence the score, but definitely one of the best CDs released this year.
