Ordered 1000 each of Forks, Knives and Spoons for our 4th of July celebration (250 ppl). Everyone loved them. They look and feel like bamboo, the design is elegant, and they DON'T BREAK. Best of all, you can reuse them many times, since they wash easily.
I would have liked to have a small poster or brochure so I wouldn't have to keep repeating the same thing to everyone. Do I have to copy the Stalkmarket website myself? Question for Amazon: why do the three together sell for more than the sum of the three individually? 1000 Forks = $53 1000 Spoons = $69 1000 Knives = $53 Total = $175 Buy the three together : $175.99 ?!?

Jaya spoons and forks are high-end disposable tableware. They have good heft, fit well in the hand, are slightly longer than low-end utensils, and their material and engineering make them sturdy enough that they don't break easily. We use these forks and spoons in an office, so they will never be composted, but they got people talking about what it would take to do composting. After all the worm jokes, most comments were about their texture and the spoons' unusual bowl shape. The texture is unfamiliar, with a slight drag, not unpleasant, but not slick like polystyrene or polypropylene. The spoons have a wide, deep bowl, reminiscent of a soup spoon, but with a slightly curled-up leading edge. When stressed to the point where polystyrene would break, these will bend, and can be straightened out again. The only thing that might keep us from buying these again is the price. Jaya utensils cost 5 cents per piece, compared to less than 1.5 cents for low-end polystyrene.

Great forks and spoons that can be used and reused over and over. Plus can be composted to break down in 45-120 days so I feel better about having something disposable.

Very happy with these forks. We used them for a weekend long gathering that we had and were happy to be able to put these into the compost bin, rather than the trash, when done. They worked as well as any plastic fork I've ever used.

Used for a week-long retreat feeding at least 70 people a day (over 90 some days) and no problems at all. Many people liked the biodegradable feature. Sturdier than most plastic cutlery.

We took a chance on these Jaya Biodegradable (and compostable) forks (and Jaya Biodegradable Spoon, 1000-Count Case) based on the positive reviews and they more than meet my expectations. These are surprising good quality and hold up as well, or better, than disposable plastic forks. We have used these for both hot (baked beans, spaghetti & meatballs, etc) and cold (antipasto, salads, etc), with good results.
Physically they look like most plastic forks, with four tines and "ribbing" underneath for strength. The only odd thing about these is the "starchy" smell when opening the packaging, but it does not impart any flavor into foods. It should be noted that these are not strong enough for meats like steak and pork chops, but then most disposable forks are not going to be either. I also like that these are better for the environment than regular plastic forks since they will breakdown over time. Highly Recommended! CFH

I purchased these thinking they would be like the World Centric ones that I got at Whole Foods. No such luck.
The pros (beyond the obvious of biodegradability, etc.): *sturdy *hold up to heat well The cons: *very thick feeling *starchy smell when the package is first opened *the end third or so of the fork (opposite the tines) is very flexible and this quickly becomes annoying if you're trying to eat anything thick or hard to stab.

Not Really Biodegradeable,
By
This review is from: Jaya Plant Starch Fork, 1000-Count Case (Health and Beauty)
I researched these before buying because I wanted to make sure that I was buying a truly biodegradeable product. Well it turns out this is made from ple which cannot biodegrade in a typical compost pile such as in your backyard. If you throw it out and it ends up in a landfill they say it'll be 100 years or so before it biodegrades. That's not very environmentally friendly to me. I read about it at the Smithsonian magazine website. I'm posting a link that I hope works: smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/plastic.html?c=y&page=1
