This is a wonderful book/tape to use in teaching EFL to youngsters. My colleagues and I have used it in several courses that we have taught and it was always a success. Highly recommend!

I purchased Jazz Chants on the recommendation of a former teacher who brings her grandsons to my library storytime. I had asked her if she knew of any readers' theater scripts for another program I host for schoolaged kids. The former teacher that I am, I knew to try it out on a kid before taking "on stage" and so I took it on vacation with me, my son and my 9 year old granddaughter. While I must admit, if you don't like to do voices it might not be as much fun but my granddaughter, son and I had "jelly-belly" laughs all the while reading Carolyn Graham's version of Chicken Little. We haven't finished all the other versions but the enthusiasm and fun we ALL had reading the first couple, we're sure to enjoy all the rest.

I am a 3rd grade teacher and I'm a big fan of this book. I use to build fluency in reading. All of the passages have a "chorus" in which the students can do choral reading. The level is probably more suitable for second graders, but it does it's job to build fluency and expression.
