Ellington fans... JAZZ COCKTAIL is the stuff! Great-sounding circa 1930 78s presented as only British label ASV LIVING ERA can. A slightest hint of echo and lovingly applied noise suppresion take absolutely nothing from these historic records. Bass response on sides waxed as long ago as 1928 just may surprise you. Eminently listenable music from (IMO) the greatest era of this seminal band's catalog are guaranteed to please!

The accompanying 8-page booklet includes several neat photos, comments on each song by Brian Rust, personnel and recording dates.

NOTES:
Booklet playlist (originally published for cassette) doesn't correspond with CD order.
Outstanding edit on "Tiger Rag" joins both sides of this 78 seamlessly.
That's Barney Bigard soloing on "Rose Room."
"Sing, You Sinners" is dubbed from a HIT OF THE WEEK celluloid one-sided disc.
"Double Check Stomp" may have been written for the 1930 Amos 'n' Andy comedy, CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK.
"Old Man Blues" IS heard in that movie.
The original name of "Mood Indigo" was "Dreamy Blues."
