DELTA/LASERLIGHT's JAZZ COLLECTOR EDITION 700 series includes discs by Armstrong, Prima, Basie, Hines, James, Les Paul Trio, Waller, Brown, Fitzgerald, Shaw, King Cole Trio, Ellington, Goodman, Herman, Getz, Rich, Miller, Gillespie & Vaughn. JIMMY DORSEY (15 759) consists of unfiltered dubs of mono LP tracks from two different sources. Songs 1 - 6 reveal surface crackle and minor groove lathe. The balance are substantially cleaner, but with a less dynamic sound spectrum. Some of these have tape azimuth issues in mastering, which adds a layer of murkiness. It's a good guess all 14 selections are post-1950 recordings (this based on "Can Anyone Explain," which was written that year), and are certainly from prior to '53, when Jimmy and brother Tommy reunited. With no identifying liner notes (thanks ever so, DELTA), it's also a safe assumption these are excerpted from radio band remote "live" performances (with several abruptly edited to eliminate any applause at their conclusions), and thus were originally transcribed at 33 1/3 rpm. A personnel list is included by D/LL only for the final 8 selections. . PROGRAM [3:11] Together [3:04] You Can Depend on Me - Si Zentner (trombone solo) [3:30] El Rancho Vego - v. Dick Culver & Jean Cromwell [2:47] King Porter Stomp [3:08] I Don't Know Why (I Just Do) - v. Kenny Martin & Claire Hogan [3:33] Sweet Sue, Just You [2:37] Can Anyone Explain? (No, No, No) - v. Claire Hogan [2:26] Manhattan [2:29] I Would Do Anything for You [2:27] Grand Central Getaway [4:25] The Great Lie [2:21] I Can't Believe That You're in Love With Me [2:31] Super Chief [3:15] Jumpin' Jiminy TOTAL TIME: 41:44

Don't expect good quality from this budget LaserLight CD. Actually the sound quality is quite poor, especially the last track.

Don't expect great quality from this budget LaserLight CD. Because it's fast paced, I got this CD to practice swing dancing to.
