this book is an excellent source of information for anyone interested in not only tracing the history of jazz music, but also for anyone interested in learning the different movements, styles and influences of jazz music with sociopolitical and historical references. The CD is an asset to understanding the forms.

Originally, i ordered this book for fun reading but after receiving the book i was impressed with the indepth review of Jazz from beginning to end. I have since recommended this book to music teachers for basic reading.

This is a great book. It is filling in the gaps of what I already know about jazz. It is also illustrated very well. B. Hall

I thought this came with the 2 pack CD, when i recieved it i realized i was wrong and had to buy the cds as a different purchase.

the boom i order from you guys was in amazing condition. It was cheap as well had little signs of wear. I received before the expected dilivery date. will order from you guys again :) thanks

Though you may think this is the audio version of the book, this is not!
Really, it is the first edition of the music cds accompanying the book.
You would like to know that these 35 tune cds have an overlapping of 50% with the 2nd edition cds. I've rated this item with one star only because its misleading display, not becase of its real content. Jazz: The First 100 Years

Jazz: The First 100 Years is an introductory textbook best suited for budding jazz aficionados with minimal to no personal music experience. At its worst, the book can be both pedantic and dull, but then... It is a textbook.

I needed this CD for class and I was really glad that Amazon sold it separately from the book. The CD came earlier than I expected, which was good and everything that was advertised was there. And the CD was perfect.
