5.0 out of 5 stars Mastercuts - the groove stretched to the limits, March 9, 2004

79 and 1/2 minutes of a music brain massage. Six minutes of Weather Report's "Birdland". Over 9 minutes of Atmosfear's Dancing in Outer Space, almost 8 of the Whistle Bump. What's better than soul diva Toni Smith belting out Funkin' For Jamaica by Tom Browne for almost 5 full minutes (4:40)? Throw in 5+ min of Strawberry 23 (thanks Q!), extended versions of Herbie Hancock & Roy Ayers tunes, and Chico Hamilton's Magic Fingers. You'll be transported into Leeds Central or Manchester's Ritz for the evening... bring yer dancing shoes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mastercuts - britain's best label?, September 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jazz Funk Mastercuts (Audio CD)
A lot of this is insipid and lacks that certain oomph, but who cares? It's worth the price of admission alone for the AWESOME extended version of Funkin' For Jamaica - funk don't come more uncut! Check it, you'll never listen to the castrated single version again. Street Life rocks too, and all you house heads will no doubt want to hear the original of "Dancing In Outer Space". Another quality mastercuts release - pretty essential if you really want to know your dance music.
