Superb, Sublime, Absolutely wonderful!, March 11, 2010
Tonight I heard Art Farmer for the first time. Well, perhaps I may have heard him before, though not consciously. Tonight I was listening to WRTI, Philly jazz programming on the radio while driving home from work and along came Art Farmer's music...I was mesmerized! As soon as I got home I immediately got to my computer, logged on to Amazon.com and downloaded this album. While I am no expert on jazz trumpet playing, Farmer sounds as amazing as anyone I ever heard...he has the sexiness of Clifford Brown, the tenderness of Miles Davis and Chet Baker...and yet he is capable of burning like Dizzy Gillespie. In short, Art Farmer is a trumpet player for all seasons. I am an instant fan! As soon as I heard 2 or 3 notes I was hooked! I will surely try to learn more about him, and will purchase more of his recordings.This recording put a smile on my face. I simply love it! Thanks to WRTI for constantly introducing me to artists I had never heard before.
