Long Overdue, August 2, 2011
This review is from: Mel Bay Jazz Guitar Styling of Howard Roberts (Sheet music)
Mitch Holder's comprehensively researched book on Howard Roberts should be in every jazz guitar enthusiast's library. The background information on H.R. and his guitars is fascinating but the transcriptions are on-the-money perfect. Howard Roberts had an incalculable influence on jazz guitar and Mitch Holder has captured the essence and importance of that influence. This book is first rate in every way and invaluable for any jazz guitar student or pro. Mitch Holder spent decades as a first-call studio guitarist and was H.R.'s most notable protege. No one else is better suited to have written this book. It's a treasure.

Mel Bay Jazz Guitar Styling of Howard Roberts, March 22, 2007
This review is from: Mel Bay Jazz Guitar Styling of Howard Roberts (Sheet music)
For the few of us in the world that know everything Howard Roberts contributed to guitarist and music lovers everywhere, this is not only a excellent instructional book on the stylings of Howard but also a long over due tribute to the musician himself. If you are a budding or advanced player this book is worth every cent, especially for thus who never had the opportunity to hear Howard!!
