This review is from: Jazz For Kids (Audio CD)
Al Saunders (tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, clarinet, flute) has a Bachelors Degree in Education from the Peabody Conservatory of music. As a free lance artist, he has often played at the Morris Mechanic Theatre and Painters Mill Theatre. Over the years he has played with many well-known artists: Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Buddy Hackett, Jerry Lewis, Gregory Hines, Elvis Presley, The Fifth Dimension, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, the Four Tops, The Temptations, the Supremes, Bill Medley and James Brown.
Dottie Tim (keyboards, piano, organ) started her music career as a child playing gospel music as the church organist. In the 1950's she played with Billie Holiday. Dottie also played with the Bobby Blue Band as well as Miles Davis and became close friends with fellow performer, John Coltrane, and his family.
"Jazz for Kids" has received the seal of approval from Young Audiences of Maryland, Inc. The Children's Guild is a non profit special education school serving children with educational and emotional difficulties. "Jazz for Kids" musical CD will soon be paired with a "Jazz for Kids" workbook. This workbook is intended for teachers and homeschoolers. Slated publication date is late 2001.
If you are an adult jazz lover, this is a wonderful CD to pass that love of jazz music on to any child!
