This series has found a good marketing niche by naming separate moods for each of its CDs. But the music it contains is very, very good- at home in the rain, while falling asleep, or as a soundtrack to a slow dance with a lover.

Try some of the audio samples! Whatever mood it inspires in you, whether lonely and contemplative as the title suggests or slow-burn romantic as many have found, you will enjoy this CD.

I stumbled across 32 Jazz in the Virgin store, Times Square, on my first visit to New York. I wasn't looking for it - it found me and what a wonderfully pleasant surprise it was! Beautifully mellow, rich in detail, style and skill, it finds the mood you're in. It's easy on the ear, lovely to work to and rewarding to drive to. It's one of those albums that you never tire of listening because it evokes such strong emotions and pleasant associations. I've bought it many times for friends and, whenever I play it, I'm often asked by people not familiar with jazz what it is and who it's by. Unfortunately, it's not available here in the UK. It's just a lovely album and well-worth adding to your collection. For just a few dollars you'll be delightfully surprised and well-rewarded.

As a light jazz lover this is one of my favorites. Perfect music to relax by or as background music for company. I have bought this for many friends as they all have enjoyed it. Wish I could find more like it.

Quiet jazz at it's finest this offers a great sampling of a variety of artists. The kind of music I can listen to for hours and never get bored.

This is a wise buy . This CD is loaded with rapture in every track you wish . Let's make a random choice .
The version of warren Vaché is one of the most expressive and idiomatic I have ever heard.
Round midnight is the first track and obviously is a deserved homage to Thelonius Monk , this jazz legend . Charles Brown makes a very worthy rendition and wins .
St Louis Blues may be well the jewel crown of this selection . Serenity, erotism and passion hidden behind the score .
Blue in Green is terrific too and Imagination of Woody Shaw is an excellent for having a good fun and pleasant meeting no matter the nature of your encounter be.
Rubby my dear with Hank Jones and My ideal with Sonny Criss are unforgettable works .
In sum this CD is a must for all jazz lovers and even you do not , acquire it too to get closer to this unexhaustive rhythm : the jazz in a rainy afternoon.

"Jazz For a Rainy Afternoon" is the prefect CD for those days where a steady rain is falling and your day is bored. The mood of the selected jazz pieces fits perfectly, and its mellowness will produce that "warm puppy" feeling you get when you hear something exceptionally good.

Fans of classic, laid-back jazz standards will really enjoy this CD, as well as the others in the series.

Worth mentioning: the first track lists Charles Brown as the solo piano, but if you listen carefully, you will hear an acoustic bass in the background.

So on your next rainy (or snowy) day, make yourself a cup of hot, herbal tea, sit back and relax to this great jazz album.

An excellent compilation album that never fails to put you in a mellow mood. This was the first of the Jazz For... series that has since spawned many spin offs and imitations. This one, however, remains the best of it's genre.

This is a great cd. I am not well versed in jazz music... but this is fantastic, and makes me want to get more! You're sure to enjoy it, whether at work or relazing at home on a beautifull afternoon.

A perfect CD to put on and read while you listen. Excellent accompaniment for work or pleasure. You can play 100 times and never tire. The companion piece is just as wonderful. Best two CD's I have ever owned.

This compilation is a late night soother, a peaceful sunrise and a calming energy throughout the day all wrapped up in one. It's the right sound for any mood or emotion. Be wary though...it will leave you wanting more!
