This smooth, smokey Stan Getz collection puts all of his great, evocative style on display. There is no doubt that this CD was put together with romance in mind: each track conjures up a sultry, late-night mood. One of my favorites is the title track which begins the collection. This is Getz at his soulful, sexy best.

STAN GETZ IS STILL WITH US IN SPIRIT! I WAS RECENTLY WORKING A LATE NITE SHIFT IN A LAB WITH LITTLE HUMAN INTERRUPTION AND HAD THIS 'ROUND MIDNIGHT CLASSIC ON. SUDDENLY I REALIZED THAT WHAT I WAS LISTENING TO IS ONE OF THE BASIC ROOTS OF MY EARLY KINSHIP WITH JAZZ AND MUSIC IN GENERAL. HE'S UNPREDICTABLE YET VERY FIMILIAR. HIS STYLE AND GRACE ON THE SAX IS IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIIZABLE. HE'S STILL COMPETES WITH THE BEST OF THE NEW SAX PLAYERS AND YET HE'S BY HIMSELF. THIS AN EXCELLENT RECORDING BY AN "A-NUMBER-ONE" MUSICIAN. ADD THIS TO YOUR COLLECTION AS I DID AN YOU'LL BE LISTENING TO HIM FOR THE NEXT 20 OR SO YEARS!
