Five stars is not enough. All Alto players must see this tape. I Watch it often. Words cant explain Carters amzing dynamics and brilliant phrasings. You must see this tape especially if you have never heard Benny before and like Bird....I never new the sax could sound like this.

Benny Carter's alto shines in this 1982 concert with a small group that includes the fine pianist Kenny Barron and the woefully underrated and unrecognized violin of Joe Kennnedy, Jr. Carter is in exceptionally good form, as vigorous here as he was in his much younger days. Grab this one.
