Unfortunately...unless you live in Vienna most of us don't spend a lot of time playing in 3/4...so hard to get good at it. This book is great fun...very interesting 3/4 arrangements of some normally 4/4 tunes. Really solid rhythm section..and a great opportunity to work on your solo work in the "land of 3/4 time"! A "Must Get" book!

The main purpose of these playalong albums surely is to provide a practice medium for learners....but most of them offer arrangements that are either TOO FAST, in DIFFICULT KEYS like Db, Bmajor and Emajor..or TEMPOS OTHER THAN THE ORIGINALS.
JAZZ IN THREE avoids most of these errors...apart from a speeded up version of "Oh What A Beautiful Morning" and a LATIN version of Bacharach's Wives and Lovers. I believe all Amazon and Sheet Music Plus listings for playalong albums should detail the KEYS AND TEMPOS of the songs they offer. |
