Vintage 1950's Jazz Of Gil Evans,

This review is from: Jazz Workshop (Audio CD)
The value for this listener in this album is in the Gil Evans material. As a Gil Evans fan I had not known of these recordings and was excited to learn of the existence of these works. Blues for Pablo was subsequently included on the Miles Davis album "Miles Ahead" the first of several albums Gil Evans and Miles Davis were to record together. On listening to these tracks I kept hearing a tuba but found no mention in the liner notes of a tuba and the performer Bill Barber. I was to later confirm this fact from another source. These Evans tracks are important contributions to the legacy of jazz composition and are valuable in themselves. Highly recommended!
