5.0 out of 5 stars very musical..great melodies and a passionet player, July 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jazzberry Pie (Audio CD)
Jiosa seems to have a mixture of Clapton,Santana, Wes Montgomery and Pat Matheny in his style. His songs are very melodic without being "watered down" smooth jazz....a bit more edgy (yet very sexy)in a good way. I highly recommend this cd as well as his previous two releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars A WONDERFUL MUSICAL EXPIERENCE, August 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jazzberry Pie (Audio CD)
The melodies are clearly defined and draws the listener in. Over production seems to be the norm these day, but Denny's music is honest and refreshing to the ears. You know it's good stuff when it's my 5 year olds most requested CD!

4.0 out of 5 stars Tasty But Not Too Filling, July 23, 2009

Although it does make you wonder when you read the credits and find that guitarist Denny Jiosa not only took the lead not only in performing and writing all the songs on this CD, but also took the lead in producing, engineering, and mixing--kind of like Ed Wood's role as producer, director, and writer of the immortal Plan Nine from Outer Space--you'll find upon listening that Jazzberry Pie is nearly as tasty as its name implies, although perhaps less filling. Jiosa leans toward music that is pleasant and tuneful, but manages to make it interesting as well. The sound quality is a bit bass-heavy, but I'm sure there are many listeners who will count that as a plus.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS...is great guitar!, July 21, 1999
This review is from: Jazzberry Pie (Audio CD)
My only criticism is that this CD should have been titled "Nine Weeks" as that cut is the best (or at least my favorite) of this superb collection. Mastery of guitar is evident as is music from the heart and soul. This is one great CD. Loved every note.

4.0 out of 5 stars As genuine and down-to-earth as Denny himself ..., January 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jazzberry Pie (Audio CD)
I had the pleasure to spend an evening with Denny at my wife's class reunion. His music is as genuine and down-to-earth as he is. Each successive album is another plateau in a brilliant career. I have become a huge fan of his music.
