5.0 out of 5 stars This is it! That sexual vibe . . ., August 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Jazzfied (Audio CD)
Slim Man-This is it! I have found that voice, that impeccable groove, and sexual vibe, all from a man that looks like Buddy Holly! I can't stop listening to his CD "jazzified". Lyrics that melt in the mouth, a bass line that makes your head slide from side to side, and a tasty, understated arrangement of live and electronic drums and synths to broaden the accents of acoustic guitars, tenor and alto saxophones, and silky tenor vocals. His talent is undeniable, and I'm not the only one to think so. Strictly Jazz calls him "refreshingly original" and Gavin hails him as "smooth jazz at its best." As if critical acclaim isn't enough, fellow artists also take to his style of vocal healing judging by his list of guest appearances with such proprietors of sexual, soulful jazz as Candy Dulfer, Al Jarreau, Fourplay, and Grover Washington Jr, just to name a brief few.

Slim Man has a vocal style that has earned him the reputation of being suave, debonair, sultry and poised. Feelings and profound emotions pour through the impassioned lyrics on Jazzified. Slim Man strikes each chord with fabulous melodies to support the meaning of the words. I truly believe that this album is his best work done to date. Jazzified has some fantastic guest artists: Marc Antoine, Ken Navarro and Joe Ercole. The saxophone player Kevin Levi really adds a sophisticated flavor to the overall quality of the production. Each of the musicians surrounds Slim Man with the necessary essentials to accentuate his vocal dexterity and bass playing. Not many male singers out there can ravish the audience with romantic lyrics and sophisticated tuneful delivery as well as backing it up with compelling instrumentalists. Who's that man? The answer is.. Slim Man.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEFORE HE WAS BONA FIDE-D, October 30, 2002
This review is from: Jazzfied (Audio CD)
The last solo effort by Slim Man before he and his band reorganized as BonaFide....A rarity these days, a male jazz vocalist with the power to carry an entire CD. I would describe his style as smooth and hip with one part Michael Franks (minus the sleepiness), a helping of Donald Fagen (except Slim Man CAN sing) and a dash of Boz Scaggs' coolness (need i say more).
Don't sleep on this CD...I first heard it on college radio in St. Louis and searched coast-to-coast until I found it in Atlanta. Well worth the effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mezmerizing, October 31, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Jazzfied (Audio CD)
Saw Slim Man live onstage -- bought the CD jazzified at the show. Who is this guy? He's an awesome performer on stage. I'm no teenager but I sure felt like a being a groupie girl the night I saw Slim Man. And then I listened to the cd . . . . . And now I can't stop listening to this CD. It's mezmerizing. Hypnotic. The lyrics are fantastic. His voice is so . . . well. . . it strikes a chord within me.

You'll be pleasantly surprised with this one. My favorite track is "Don't Say Goobye." Makes me cry every time.

And check out "Other Side of Love." Smoky, confusing, like a complicated love affair if you get me.

Slim Man speaks to me. He will to you too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Luv is in the air, August 2, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Jazzfied (Audio CD)
Once you've come under the spell of the Slim Man, you may never recover. He's hot, hot, hot and cool, cool, cool.

His latest release, jazzified, is definitely a crowning glory, and definitely jazz-i-fied! Featuring Marc Antoine on sensual guitar, Kevin Levi on sexy sax, and Joe Ercole on brilliant keys, Slim Man has produced one of the hottest pop-jazz vocal projects in a long time. With beautiful brilliant piano, hypnotic bass lines and sensual lyrics, Slim Man's musicality shines through with songs like: "Weeping Willow," "Sweet Serenade," and "A Night Like This."

I truly believe that "Other Side of Love" one day will be considered a classic! This song has a real crooning quality to it, reminding you of Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett, but better: it's Slim Man! And the Marc Antoine classical guitar solo is positively breathtaking! It's just an awesome song.

My recommendation? But it. Now. You won't be sorry! You'll wear it out and buy another. A must have for lovers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just the beginning of a Slim Man Fan!, August 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Jazzfied (Audio CD)
I heard Slim Man at a jazz festival in my city and wow. The man wears a suit like no one else. When I heard "The Beginning" I knew I had to buy his cd, Jazzified. The best song on the cd is The Beginning, but the others are also mello and easy to listen to. There is enough variation in the songs to keep you interested, but my favorite was that first cut and I find myself playing it over and over and over.......

This guys lyrics are fantastic. It's been a long time since an artist was able to paint pictures as Slim Man does with his voice. A hopeless romantic in the same vain as Bobby Caldwell and Michael Franks this Man brings a new sound to the table. " Dont say Goodbye " will have you cryin for her not to leave. Wonderfully arranged with exceptional muscians this one is a sure thing for a great night of sweet lovin with your women or man. Slim Man does it right....................

5.0 out of 5 stars "His best work yet", August 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Jazzfied (Audio CD)
His "Slim-Ness is in the drivers seat with this one. The music is tight, and Slim's vocals are smooth, with style and charm. Not only should all the Smooth Jazz stations be all over this album, but it's time the other formats to take notice. Although Sweet Seranade is getting the spins on radio, I think a "Night Like This" and "Beginning" have the best hooks. Slim is like a fine wine, each album gets better.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Beginning of Being a Slim Man Fan(atic), August 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jazzfied (Audio CD)
I recently became a fan of Slim Man. I'd always listened to his music, but didn't pay attention to him until his "Thousand Miles Away" cd. His fusion of jazz and R&B is fantastic!! I love that I can understand every word he says when he sings, which is important to me. Needless to say, I was hooked on Slim Man and all his works, which led me to purchase "Jazzified". Smooth, jazzy tunes, beautiful guitar medleys and Slim's singing did not disappoint...I'm a fan for life!!

I had a moving experience listening to "Jazzified" selections broadcasted from KTSU radio station. The instruments and vocals put out were heavenly. I have now added "Jazzified" to my most wanted collection of Jazz Music Masterpieces.

5.0 out of 5 stars You have to get it..., April 17, 2000
This review is from: Jazzfied (Audio CD)
Best Slim Man album yet. I got a chance to hear it live last summer on his tour with Boney James-- don't miss it if you get a chance; I could not believe that they sound as good or better live than on the CD!
