5.0 out of 5 stars Saxy - Sultry - Soothing Jazz, August 21, 2000

I had not paid much attention to Paul Hardcastle before hearing this CD. Now I'm hooked for life. Jazzmasters II is simply a work of art! It has everything! Upbeat crusin' tracks like Do You Remember?, Summer Rain, Time to Move On. The sultry vocals of Helen Rogers on Wonderful, Good Lovin, Can You Hear Me?, and Just Can't Understand. And of course Paul's signature saxy instrumentals on Walkin to Freedom, Smooth Groove, Slomotion and Inner Change. You will definitely enjoy this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Paul Hardcastle's Smooth Groove, May 27, 2004
This review is from: Jazzmasters 2 (Audio CD)
Paul Hardcastle delivers another classic smooth jazz CD with "Jazzmasters II," the 2nd album in Paul's "Jazzmasters" series, and yet another winning collaboration with vocalist and co-songwriter Helen Rogers. As usual, Hardcastle brilliantly plays most of the instruments himself, while Rogers is his perfect, soulful voice. The duo offer one slammin' song after another, such as "Do You Remember," "Summer Rain," "So Much In Love," and "Can You Hear Me?". And no Paul Hardcastle album would be complete without some grrrroovy instrumentals, and Paul gives you plenty on "Jazzmasters II," including his radio classic "Walkin' To Freedom," the appropriately-titled "Smooth Groove," "Slomotion," and "Time To Move On." When it comes to jazz music that's smooth, snappy, and seductive all in one shot, NOBODY beats Paul Hardcastle. But nobody! "Jazzmasters II" is simply outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST of Paul Hardcastle...., May 16, 2011
This review is from: Jazzmasters 2 (Audio CD)
This album is one of those rare examples where the sequel far surpasses the original. Virtually every single track on this outstanding album is absolutely amazing. "Walking to Freedom" especially is a work of pure genius. You cannot go wrong with this smooth jazz masterpiece! These albums define the catagory.

This is the cd to have if you've never listen to Paul Hardcastle before! This is how I got hooked. Driving home one hot summer night about 2:30 in the morning, after a night out on the town, my wife and I were listening to the local smooth jazz radio station. "Smooth Groove" crept onto the air waves without either of us really paying much attention to it until about midway into the song we happened to glance at one another to notice that we were both bobbing our heads in time to the cool sounds of the beat. We both agreed at that moment that we had to purchase this cd and anxiously awaited the announcement of the artist by the disc jockey. I'll tell you! To experience this feeling, take this cd for a ride with the top down!!!! This is one bad cd! Or should I say, "Awesome?"

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful music to soothe the soul, March 1, 2004

Paul certainly knows how to define passion; it flows through his smooth, and he certainly knows how to set the "mood" for romance. I often catch myself in quiet reverie when "Wonderland" or "Inner Changes" play. Both of these like the others on this CD capture the listener and takes him on a pensive journey that is all too alluring.

5.0 out of 5 stars He's quite the Jazzmaster!, April 19, 2000

This review is from: Jazzmasters 2 (Audio CD)
I love smooth jazz, which is why I'm a fan of Paul Hardcastle's creations. With his talent for creativity, he's truly one of the best. Jazzmasters II is a pleasure to listen to, especially "Inner Changes" and "Walking to Freedom." For all of you "SETI" fans (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), be sure to listen to "Can You Hear Me" where Hardcastle brilliantly expresses the fascination of outer space exploration into music. This CD is excellent!
