5.0 out of 5 stars PAUL HARDCASTLE'S SMOOTH JAZZMASTERS VI SET
Five IRRESISTIBLE Stars!! Composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, producer Paul Hardcastle's sixth edition of his Jazzmasters series is a winner. Into his third decade of creating smooth swinging music since his first hits "Rain Forest" and the controversial montage "19", his music has produced a string of #1 hits since he entered (and helped create) the musical vortex...

2.0 out of 5 stars Jazzmasters VI
Our of all six CDs in Paul Hardcastle's Jazzmasters' series, this is my least favorite. It is similar to the past five, but there is nothing distinctive about it. It is more an inferior re-hash of the others.

I listened to the samples before my purchase. But I thought that the problem was the short samples. Instead they were an accurate representation...

Five IRRESISTIBLE Stars!! Composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, producer Paul Hardcastle's sixth edition of his Jazzmasters series is a winner. Into his third decade of creating smooth swinging music since his first hits "Rain Forest" and the controversial montage "19", his music has produced a string of #1 hits since he entered (and helped create) the musical vortex mixing easy-listening, dance, smooth jazz, and "quiet storm radio" music that has won him awards like the Smooth Jazz Artist of 2008. "Awakening Thoughts" eases the listener into 'the Hardcastle musical experience' in just over a minute of gentle music. On the instrumental side, there are swingers like "Touch and Go" (with son Paul, Jr's sweet, swinging sax), "Solar Sky", "Cloud Watching", and "In The Key of Time" which feature saxes, guitars, synthesizers, and flutes served up over an infectious beat with strings, with the trademark Hardcastle 'attention to musical detail'. "One Chance" "I Can't Get By", "So Into You", and "I Really Like" are very persuasive lead vocals by Beki Biggins with clear messages on living and loving. BTW, daughter Maxine Hardcastle is singing background vocals. But "The Vision" vocal with its deep lyrics and message about life, and the full reprise of "One Chance" with Paul's spoken philosophy are the icing on this musical cake. "Jazzmasters VI" is a great way to set a musical vibe. Highly Recommended. Five SWINGING Stars. (This review is based on an iTunes download: 13 tracks:~50 minutes)

5.0 out of 5 stars Paul Does It Again!, July 21, 2010
This review is from: Jazzmasters VI (Audio CD)
Just looking at the beautiful album cover for Paul Hardcastle's latest album, "Jazzmasters VI", with it's gorgeous depiction of an orange sunset over the ocean, I knew that this album would be something truly special without having heard a single note of it beforehand. And I was right---"Jazzmasters VI" is absolutely wonderful, heavenly smooth-jazz music from start to finish. But hey, would you expect anything else from the multi-talented King Of Smooth Jazz? Listening to "Jazzmasters VI" is a marvelous experience, the music is SO wonderfully uplifting, and guaranteed to make you feel good. These are GREAT, groovy, catchy songs! Any one of them could be huge hits, and they're all sung to perfection by the soulful Becki Biggins: "One Chance", "I Really Like", "I Can't Get By", "The Vision", and "So Into You" (though *not* a cover of the old Atlanta Rhythm Section classic, though I can totally see Paul covering this song sometime---how about it, Paul?). And of course, Paul gives us a very generous dose of very dreamy, perfectly-crafted instrumentals as well, including "Touch And Go", "Cloud Watching", "Solar Sky", "In The Key Of Time", and "Dimensions Of Light". Also lending marvelous contributions are the next generation of Hardscastles, Maxine and Paul Jr., helping out their dad on backing vocals and saxophone, respectively, as well as saxmen Chris "Snake" Davis and Rock Hendrix. I don't buy new music CD's too often, as I mostly stick to classic artists, but I always make an exception for Paul Hardcastle. Album for album, his music is stunning, and I'll always check out what he does, as he never disappoints, and "Jazzmasters VI" continues Paul's long, impressive winning streak. It's an outstanding album, and I guarantee you'll love it! Just put it on, stare at the sunset on the cover, and dream. :-)

Paul Hardcastle is the greatest musical genius of all time . Proving this statement true song after song , album after album . He arranges musical instruments together in a most harmonious way . With Paul Hardcastle , you get to listen to many instruments preforming to perfection . Not just the same instruments . Paul creates an array of music tantalizing to your senses . I am so thankful for Paul Hardcastles music . It has brought so much to my life .This album is another example of his incredible work , hope there will be many more to come . Anyone that gives Paul Hardcastles work less than a top rating needs their ears , and maybe their head examined ( completely ) .

5.0 out of 5 stars Hardcastle just can't stop!, July 30, 2010

Paul just can't stop makin' perfect music. I'm going to send Paul a monthly allotment from my earnings, and request that he sends me a copy of any new music he creates. I have been following Paul since he recorded "Nineteen" and I promise to buy anything he records for the rest of my life. Paul has a direct connection to God, because his music is perfect, and we all know that perfection flows only through GOD!!!!! Jazzmasters VI is not Paul's Best Creation, but it is the best that the music industry has to offer the world from any genre of music. If Paul stops making music, I will stop buying music!!!!!

If you like the Jazzmasters series, as I do, I would recommend purchasing any of the other five. But for me this one is a "thumbs down".
