The ingredients used in the book are ones that are easily accessible at your regular grocery store and things that everyone has heard of. No crazy ingredients that one would have to find at a health food store or Whole Foods. The Pots de Crème recipe, which is basically a chocolate mousse, is quite easy to make with only 4 ingredients, but the caveat is you do have to make it ahead of time because it has to refrigerate for 4-24 hours. I must say that after having this dessert it is absolutely amazing! It is very smooth and light and tastes so delicious! Laura Theodore offers menu plans towards the front of the book so you can put together full course meals that complement each other. She also has ingredient information and tips as well. Overall, this is a great cookbook for a vegan or vegetarian to incorporate into their meal planning as the recipes are easy and delicious!

When I first got this book I read it cover to cover, enjoying the mouth-watering photos. Then I dipped in and started making the foods. So far everything I've tried has been wonderful and EASY-- EASY, EASY! The Penne with Broccoli, the Double Cornbread ,the artichokes.--- I could serve any of these to my non-vegetarian family and they were perfectly happy with them. The piece-de-resistance came, however, when my grandchildren fought over the Crispy Portobello Steaks. Who could believe that kids who would never even taste a mushroom were now chipping away at this Portobello as if it were candy! It's a good as a portobello can possibly taste! I did make one change in that recipe, though ( using panko instead of cornflake crumbs). Make sure to use very good ingredients and best quality vegan mayo. It makes a difference in all of the recipes to use best quality ingredients.
Also, check out Laura.s website where I believe you can get answers to any questions. Her radio and Television shows are wonderful. (It's good to see these things done right before your eyes). Try her lasagna! Try her truffles. Try her Apple upside down cake. They're too numerous to mention and they ALL work.

This book is so great for anyone interested in vegetarian cooking and for skilled vegetarian chefs alike. The recipes are virtually foolproof, easy to follow, and delicious. So many of these recipes are actually vegan versions of familiar favorites, so it's a great book for people interested in eating vegetarian but who don't want to leave behind their favorite comfort foods.

I love this book. Saw her on PBS, went to her website for a recipe and then decided to get the book. I'm so glad I did. Great pics. Easy steps. Plus a little history and story on healthy lifestyle. I'll be looking for more from her.

In all of my years as a meal planner for my extended family, I have never come across a book with recipes that are as healthy, easy to prepare and taste so good. Nothing artificial or things you can't pronounce....just real simple ingredients. One problem my "better for you" cooking efforts have always struggled with is taste. Laura has really figured our how to add just the right amount of flavorings and spices to make these recipes taste like good old comfort food. Bravo! Can't wait to see the next episode of the show. Thanks Laura.

This book is terrific! The recipes are clear and the results are consistently delicious.

I appreciate how the recipes make tasty use of ingredients I almost always have in my pantry and refrigerator (just invest in a bottle of low-sodium tamari and you'll be good to go). I also enjoy how many of the recipes/menu suggestions lend themselves to variations (I combined and tweaked the mashed carrots/cauliflower with the mashed cauliflower/potatoes and a new "Jazzy" recipe was born). And though there are no slow-cooker recipes in the book, Laura's chili recipes taste great made in a crockpot.

I am a vegan surrounded by vegetarians, with a significant side of carnivore, and after cooking many of the recipes in this book, I can tell you that, without reservation, everyone loves Jazzy food!

The Jazzy Vegetarian has many great reasons to purchase: Laura Theodore uses local seasonal ingredients in her creative dishes; the directions are easy to follow and she includes time-saving tips along the way. Along with the recipes are beautiful pictures of how the dishes are presented at table - appealing to one's eyes, as well as all the other senses. The Jazzy Vegetarian is the perfect gift for your vegetarian and VEGAN friends.

It's amazing that Vegan recipes should be simple and delicious. I am at a time of my life when too many ingredients which are hard to find is not going to work. Who would have thought that recipes sans dairy and animal products could be so easy and tasty. I have the book. which by the way teaches you to switch to environmentally approved products in your everyday life. Now I am looking forward to seeing the show which is coming to our PBS channel in a week. My friends and I are planning to have a viewing party and lunch with all of Laura's recipes on the menu. This whole concept is what will lead to a healthy tomorrow.
