About the Author

Sandra Vasoli earned a bachelor’s degree in English and biology from Villanova University before embarking on a thirty-five-year career in human resources for a large international company.

Having written essays, stories, and articles all her life, Vasoli was prompted by her overwhelming fascination with the Tudor dynasty to try her hand at writing fiction.

While researching what would eventually become her Je Anne Boleyn series, Vasoli was granted unprecedented access to the Papal Library. There she was able to read the original love letters from Henry VIII to Anne Boleyn—an event that contributed greatly to the creation of her fictional memoir.

Vasoli currently lives in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania, with her husband and two greyhounds.

A wonderful new approach to a story that we pretend to know. A remarkable analysis of the growth of a young woman, demonstrating her candor, her weaknesses and her intelligence. You won't be able to put it down until the end.

This historical NOVEL is a wonderful engaging book that provides a unique perspective on one of the most written about women in the world. Those who bicker with perceived inaccuracies in some minute historical facts miss the point and unique beauty of this book - the telling of the story of a complex personality from her own perspective. The author's attention to detail reflects years of meticulous research does not overpower the insights how Anne Boleyn saw herself and those around her, and her place in the larger world in a particular point in time. It is hard to imagine another author who can provide such a clear public view of the interior life of an important historical figure. Hard to put down - can't wait for volume 2!

I won this book thanks to the website On The Tudor Trail and Sandra Vasoli.

I want to write an honest review without offending the author hopefully.

Overall the book was wonderfully written from the point of view of Anne Boleyn and her experiences up until her marriage to Henry VIII. It started off a bit slow but became more enjoyable as I read on. At the beginning of the book there were quite a few errors. An example of this would be saying Henry VIII had brown eyes when he had blue. There were some other errors that also kind of threw me off of the story. It was a bit of a distraction. However once you get more into the book it's very enjoyable. You can almost imagine the gowns Anne is wearing and everything she is feeling. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

My only suggestion to Sandra would be to have someone proofread the next one. Perhaps someone else that she knows with Tudor/Anne Boleyn knowledge too. Most of the facts in this book were accurate however just a couple inaccuracies. Other than that it was a wonderful read that I really enjoyed.

I hope others enjoy it as much as I did.

Just finished this novel. What a great read!
The writing is full of passion and makes Anne Boleyn's life come alive.
From her first meeting with Henry VIII through her quest to get even closer
to him, this well-researched novel shows what a profound effect Anne had
on him. This book gives us a glimpse into Anne's inner thoughts by showcasing
her intellectual curiosity, passion and independent nature. It shows us what a
complex person Anne Boleyn was and Sandra Vasoli writes it all in a highly readable style.
What a page-turner....I cannot wait for the sequel!

We're severely limited in knowing what went on in the mind of most players in the Tudor dramas but access to the extant correspondence might help. In any case Vasoli can make an argument from her reading of the letters that she has some special insight. I agree that the idyllic relationships between Anne and her parents appear unlikely at best...even H and A should have had more rough times than indicated here but the politics seem well represented. What comes next of course will let us know if Vasoli's picture of Anne's temperament has any chance of holding up. The side HX is worthy.

The use of the original letters between Henry and Anne are what sets this book apart from others I have read in this genre. The searing words and direct and implied meanings in the letters add a definitive touch of reality to this compelling work of fictional history. I look forward to the second volume where hopefully some of the darker sides of some Boleyn family members will be mined to greater depths. This is an excellent first novel written with a careful hand. It was a pleasure to read.
