Superlative song-craft. Possibly... as good as it gets. How many records can you recount.... Where each and every cut = bona fide singles material?

Just saw these guys live and they were incredible! This album has something for casual listeners as well as discernible fans of great rock- melodic and passionate. I look forward to seeing their career take off!

the jealous girlfriends are set to become superstars. every song on this album is great, you would be silly to not buy it! i'm not that into all these hyped up bands these days, but they make the cut. if you like 90's shoegaze you will love them! go see them live they won't fail to put on an awesome show. they were also written up in the NY and LA times as one of the best new bands--not an easy title to gain!

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing, Amazing, Amazing album.

One of my favorites of the year.

I would recommend it to anyone who like music ranging from post-pop-punk to shoe-gaze-rock.

this is, indeed, a slab of shoegazer-esque goodness. if encountering the words "swirly" and "miasmic" (coupled with the phrase "wall of sound") in an album review make your eyes light up, you will no doubt enjoy this album. it's got that exact blend of soaring guitar atmospherics and twinkling melodies that make reviewers dig into their dictionaries and noise-rock aficionados nudge their headphones just a little bit closer. but this is not formulaic by-the-books genre aping, the kind that a band offers up on their debut to get the attention of a few well-placed purveyors of hype. jealous girlfriends sounds like a band that come to the table with their sound fully formed. they fail to succumb to soporific stereotypes; this record is not on the ambien side of ambient. the swirls and miasmas are a backdrop to searing guitar work and tight, clever drumming. the vocals of mssr. abbott and madame miranda make for uneasy listening in the most complimentary sense of that turn of phrase. you get the sense you're listening to a series of confessions told to you separately by feuding lovers. maybe someone should offer josh and holly some couples therapy? nah, they sound good when they're arguing: moody & melodic and loud as hell. to re-iterate, you shouldn't let the burgeoning blogosphere buzz trick you into rejecting this album as a mere throwback to the good ole days when everyone was spacing out to mazzy star on their walkmen (no ipods back then, younguns.) jealous girlfriends are actually worth all the attention. and, you should buy their album and listen to it.
