Earth's Children Series,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jean M. Auel (3 Volume Leatherbound Slipcased Edition) (Earth's Children) (Hardcover)
I've read a few of the other reviews and can see that I'm not alone in my feelings toward Ayla and Jondalar's lives. When I read The Clan of the Cave Bear, I went right out to find the next, and was waiting for the next with near anxiety attacks. I've never been drawn into a story as I have in Ayla's life. I even managed to get my hands on the entire series on audio cassettes, and that was a treat! I've been waiting for many years now for the 5th book also, I can't walk past a book store without wondering if it's there yet. I'm a very busy person with the family that I have to raise, so I was somewhat shocked to hear that Jean M. Auel is suffering from cancer. I'm going to say a prayer for her full recovery, not just because of the 5th book, but because she needs all the help she can get. As bad as I want to read that next book, I want her to become well again. If anyone hears anything, please email me. phlipster@earthlink.net

not too young to appreciate the good things,

This review is from: Jean M. Auel (3 Volume Leatherbound Slipcased Edition) (Earth's Children) (Hardcover)
I'm 17 and I absolutley love this series. I started reading it in '99 and finished all four within 4 months. My friends think I'm nuts just because I read in my spare time, you should see their faces when I hold up a 600 page book and tell them they should read it. I'm always dreaming about whether or not Ayla had a boy or a girl, or if Whiney had a boy or a girl, or if they are happy with Jondlar's family. The fifth book must come out. It's a matter of one's sanity. Even if the fifth book doesn't make it to the shelves I would like to personally thank Jean M Auel for sharing her story with the world. It made me very happy. Much love, Diana

For the last 4 years I have anxiously awaited the final book in the Earth's Children's saga. I didn't realize that the author, Jean Auel, has been ill. I pray that she will recover and be back writing again. Her books have swept me and all my emotions along, and has given me a sense of history as well. I highly recommend this series.

First Three of Jean Auel's Earth's Children,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jean M. Auel (3 Volume Leatherbound Slipcased Edition) (Earth's Children) (Hardcover)
I was so enthralled with Mrs. Auel's first two books that it was hard waiting for her third, so I hold off reading The Plains of Passage until she wrote her 5th. I was planning a vacation taking along all five books. I just learned here that Mrs. Auel has been fighting cancer. I want to wish Mrs. Auel a fast and complete recovery and to tell her not to rush in account of me because I can wait indefinitely for a good book.

I read these books for the first time when I was in highschool. Waiting anxiously for the next of the series to come out. The last book "Plains of Passage" I read Christmas, 1990. It has been 10 years, and I still look each time I enter a bookstore for the 5th book. Until I read some of the reviews I didn't know that she was sick. I can't say enough about these books. They are classics to me, and I have read and re-read all of them, and I can't wait to find out what the next one holds.

Earth's Children Series,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jean M. Auel (3 Volume Leatherbound Slipcased Edition) (Earth's Children) (Hardcover)
I can't remember when I first read "Clan" but I remember anxiously waiting for each subsequent novel. I even reread "Clan" while waiting for one of them. I think now I'll have to go back and reread the whole series! I checked out the copyrite date on "Plains": 1990. I must have read it no later than 1991. Ten years is much too long to wait! I can't wait to read about Ayla, Jondalar, and their impending family!

Easily the best book(s) I have ever read!(I'm 14.),

This review is from: Jean M. Auel (3 Volume Leatherbound Slipcased Edition) (Earth's Children) (Hardcover)
This being my third time reading the series, and seeing to the fact that I am only 14 years old, you could probably guess that I find these books to be excellent reading. I first read the first book(The Clan of the Cave Bear) when I was in fifth grade. I am now going into ninth. I think I agree with everyone when I say that I am eagerly awaiting the fifth book in the Earth's Children series. I wish to know what will become of Ayla and her new, unborn child, Jondalar, Durc, and all the other unsolved mysteries enveloping this not quite completed series. I hope Jean gets with it soon and writes that last book. I know I will probably read it as many times as the others!

This review is from: Jean M. Auel (3 Volume Leatherbound Slipcased Edition) (Earth's Children) (Hardcover)
A young girl named Ayla is found and raised by a people called the Clan (Nenderthals to us and flatheads to the Others) The first book ends when she is cursed w/death and must leave everyone -including Durc- behind. In the Valley of Horses, she is living alone in a cave. She raises two horses and a cave lion, and towards the end meets Jondalar of the Zelandonii. The Mammoth Hunters is when Ayla (FINALLY!) meets the Others. She and Jondalar live w/them for almost a year. Ayla also is bethrothed to a man named Ranec, and no, I will not tell you whether she marries him. You can probably guess. I really, really hope Jean M. Auel gets well. She is an amazing storyteller. They (her books) are so exciting and suspenseful, you're drawn into the story whether you want to be or not. I strongly recommend that you read The Plains of Passage after these books. After Clan of the Cave Bear it's my favorite one. I really hope J.M. Auel writes a 5th one soon!
