5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this movie! Very funny! Very sexy!
I loved this movie. It's a very funny and very sexy look at extreme Star Wars fans.

The film covers an entire gambit of Star Wars fans including a guy who built a life size Millenium Falcon in his backyard. (There's a good story behind why he did and what happened to the space ship.) Film also shows this group called the NY Jedi - who are light saber...

2.0 out of 5 stars Another Lifeless Documentary
It takes great skill to make an interesting documentary, and it's clear that these folks did not have said skill. It's boring, drones on, and seems to fixated on women dressed as Slave Leia. Even the most die hard Star Wars fans will find this documentary to be a waste of time.

I loved this movie. It's a very funny and very sexy look at extreme Star Wars fans.

The film covers an entire gambit of Star Wars fans including a guy who built a life size Millenium Falcon in his backyard. (There's a good story behind why he did and what happened to the space ship.) Film also shows this group called the NY Jedi - who are light saber experts. Also shown are toy collectors and people who make Star Wars fan films.

And if you're interested in women who dress up like Princess Leia in her metal bikini - aka "Slave Leia" you will not be disapointed.

A few actors from the Star Wars films are interviewed. That includes Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Ray Park (Darth Maul) and Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett).

Also interviewed is Olivia Munn from Attack of the Show.

I'm glad that this film doesn't make fun of Star Wars fans. Yes, it shows that some fans might take it too far....(one guy doesn't have a bed because he bought to many toys.) But the film really celebrates the fans.

In short... Very funny. Very sexy. Very entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Definitive Star Wars Documentary. Buy Now. The end., November 23, 2010

If you love Star Wars or seeing how extreme fandom can get, check out this film. I'm old enough to remember being 8 or 9 years old and seeing the original film over, and over, and over. And having the puzzles, ships, costumes, action figures, trading cards (Oh how rich I would be if I hadn't been SO good about getting rid of stuff I didn't play with anymore...)

The amazing thing is the filmmakers managed to make this totally respectful and admiring - even more so than the Star-Trek themed Trekkies - but it's more interesting and with a wider and somewhat more extreme group of people profiled. I mean , these are people who LIVE and BREATHE Star Wars, but you walk away from this film wanting to BE them, not make fun of them. One dude even says something like "Why is spending your weekends doing Star Wars stuff any different than loving a sports team?" good point.

The film is funny, touching, and a lot of fun. I watched it on iTunes twice (once with my brother in law, and once with my kids - totally family friendly, even the "sexy" Leia in her slave bikini part) - and then bought it - and am buying them for gifts. Why? Because Star Wars is so much fun, and having a new film that isn't exactly a "Star Wars" film but still captures all the fun and excitement of watching Star Wars is a perfect film in my book. I'd rather own it on DVD and have been telling all my friends about this somewhat unknown? little movie.

Oh, and apologies to my wife, but Olivia Munn - you are so awesome in this film - the coolest.

2.0 out of 5 stars Eh... worth one look., September 16, 2010

I thought quite a bit about how to describe this one and what I came up with was: Informative but not entertaining. Doesn't come close to the really engaging Trekkies fan-based documentaries primarily due to a consistent feeling of a blase, routine, and dull look at what really could and should have been an easy one to produce: a look at Star Wars fans. Instead, the filmmakers seemed to choose the dullest and most lifeless subjects they could have picked, and presented them in an equally banal and uninteresting way. If you are a Star Wars fan, it's probably worth watching once, but even then you'll probably be disappointed. Hopefully, someone else will give this subject matter a try in the future (pardon the fun) and give us something more deserving of the material.
