Heres the genuine stuff from guys whove done it all: sand, rocks, mud, creek-beds and cactus in their Jeeps. Youve got questions? Theyve got the answers! Fix your carburetor or replace it? Air down the tires or keep em high? How long do you trust your battery? How do I put a Pinto engine in my Jeep? (Good way to go!)
They tell you how to take things apart and how to put them back together. They also tell you what NOT to take apart. They include safety tips learned the hard way. Plus they tell you how to build The Ultimate Jeep yourself ... from the ground up! And all in a delightfully personal, down-to-earth style.
The Third Edition has 32 more pages than the Second Edition, so it the book now totals 320 pages. One new chapter tells the reader how to go about building the Ultimate Jeep, and another contains an expanded "Jeep Bookshelf". Also, there is comprehensive list of some 700 plus Jeep parts and services dealers. Web sites catering to Jeep owners are also listed.
This combination history and repair guide to help Jeep owners understand what makes America's most ubiquitous motor vehicle tick and how to fix it when it doesn't, has been popular since introduced some 20 years ago. It's on its way to being as widely known and respected as the Jeep marque itself. Part of its appeal is that it is written in an eminently light-hearted, readable style that sets it apart from service manuals.
The new chapter in the Third Edition, telling the reader how to build the "Ultimate Jeep" from the ground up, was written by co-author Willie Worthy, respected Jeep technical expert who has been involved with and written about Jeeps for almost 50 years.
A comprehensive Jeepers' Bookshelf now includes movies, videos and web sites in addition to books about Jeeps and Jeeping.
Though the CJ has been discontinued, we believe there are a good many miles yet to be rolled down the highways and through the back country in them. What other marques are still rolling 40-50 years later? This book aims to help keep those CJs rolling. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Hype,
By Phil (San Jose, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Jeep Bible (Paperback)
Despite the generous humour found within, this is probably NOT the book you want to get if you need to find out particular data on your Jeep. The book seems to focus on common sense issues related to 4X4's in general, so it leaves much to be desired in terms of identifying axles, transmissions, transfer cases and the like. Oh yeah, there aren't any wiring diagrams included. I suppose the book was written on the premise that the reader should already know what s/he has in and around their Jeep...which, in a sense, kinda relegates the book to owner's manual status rather than being a bible on the subject. The Haynes manuals are much better.

The "CJ Only" Jeep Bible,
By James (Lexington, KY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Jeep Bible (Paperback)
I really enjoyed the writing style used throughout the book, but I had hoped that since the book had been updated in 1997 it would have some Jeep YJ and TJ information. If you read the print on the cover it specifically states "1941-1986 CJ". So don't believe an earlier review that says this book has "TJ" information, the letters "TJ" cannot be found in this book. If you have a CJ or are a Jeep afficianado then this book is for you.

Better than Chilton !,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Jeep Bible (Paperback)
When working on my 1959 CJ3B or my brother's Scrambler I go to this book first, then the factory manuals. Clearly written, with tips only developed from experience. It's like having a personal Jeep mechanic in your garage.
