4.0 out of 5 stars A great first accessory for your Jeep
This book makes great reading for new Jeep owners who are starting to feel the "Jeep Thing". It is by no means a repair manual (grab a Chiltons if you're interested in repair information), but will give you very detailed information about each area of your vehicle and provides a very detailed history along the way. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not For TJ Owners
This is a very good general book about Jeeps. It(1998 edition) is totally lacking for TJ owners. If you are looking for specifics this is not the book for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great first accessory for your Jeep, January 11, 2000
This review is from: Jeep Owner's Bible: A Hands-On Guide to Getting the Most from Your Jeep (Paperback)
This book makes great reading for new Jeep owners who are starting to feel the "Jeep Thing". It is by no means a repair manual (grab a Chiltons if you're interested in repair information), but will give you very detailed information about each area of your vehicle and provides a very detailed history along the way. For example, the chapter on winches and off-road accessories goes into great detail about the types of gears found in winches and the pros and cons of each.

Each chapter is readable on its own. So, if you happen to be interested in suspension upgrades one day and are tired of reading various Jeep catalogs, flip open to that chapter and read on.

Other reviews have pointed out that the information on the TJ is lacking. I have to agree on this point. When I originally purchased the book I was expecting a full treatment of the TJ with some additional information about previous Jeeps. In fact, the opposite is true. Information about the TJ has been added throughout the book, but the TJ isn't a main theme.

2.0 out of 5 stars shameless Jeep/Mopar brand promo, April 14, 2006
Not worth your money. It reads like a paid advertisement. Spends way too much time talking about how great the new Jeep vehicles are and how important it is to use geniune mopar parts. Very little actual reference material for the DIY enthusiast or wannabe serious Jeeper. What little reference there is, is for CJs. Seems like something they would hand out at a Jeep dealership.

I don't agree with a lot of what this guy says. What's this about only needing 33" tires at the largest? For me, bigger, sloppier obstacles = more fun = need more traction and clearance = bigger tires.

Take my advice - aftermarket parts are almost always the way to go for price, warranty length, and reliability - don't get your parts or accessories through Chrysler/Mopar if you can help it.

I recommend Jim Allen's books, such as the Jeep 4x4 Performance Handbook. Much better intro to Jeepin'.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for anybody that has caught the Jeep Thing!, June 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Jeep Owner's Bible: A Hands-On Guide to Getting the Most from Your Jeep (Paperback)
This book is by far the most comprehensive Jeep Book available. It has already become a legend, and soon, it will include some chapters for the TJ's and late model YJ's. This is a book I would buy over and over as models are added. This would be my choice for a subscription book! Just send a new copy every time its updated!

Jeep On!

2.0 out of 5 stars More CJ than YJ or TJ, January 9, 2006
The title and cover of this particular book leads one to believe that it really does cover information for the TJ. That is somewhat incorrect. The majority of the book is geared towards the CJ. Not really a problem, just understand that if you have a TJ, this is probably not the book for you.

It is also written with heavy praise for Mopar parts and accessories.

A Chilton's Manual would probably be a better purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless book, August 17, 2006
Just about the most useLESS book I have ever bought. The coverage is way too broad and general. There are little to NO specific areas covered. Just general information that can be obtained in the owners manual that comes with the vehicle. All in all, not even worth taking to the throne room.

3.0 out of 5 stars no step by step instructions, September 20, 2005
The information in the book is good, but when I purchased the book I expected step by step instructions on tune ups, brake changes, ect. This was not the case. There was some helpfull hints, but other than that you are on your own.

This review is from: Jeep Owner's Bible: A Hands-On Guide to Getting the Most from Your Jeep (Paperback)
The best I've read yet. Moses goes over every thing! From the basics (How to drive a Jeep) to high performance modifications (Fuel injection etc.). This book helped me find just the Jeep model I wanted.
