Good ideas, no content, don't waste your money,

I own an 09 Sahara, and bought this after thumbing through it at the book store. It looks great at first glance, a lot of different topics, and ideas, but that's about all it has. The book has absolutely no specific information. The section on how to install a new front bumper is 4 pages, and I believe 8 steps. While, the AEV bumper that they are installing has 17 pages to the manufacturer's installation manual. There is no "extra" information that may make the job easier or true instructional information. Not to mention that there is actually a section about how to change the air filter. That takes up the same number of pages as installing auxiliary lights. I know that everyone has to start from somewhere, but if you need instructions on how to install an air filter, I don't think you need to be attempting any actual projects on your Jeep. I feel like this book was just an excuse to for the authors to write off their Jeep mods as a business expense, and try to make some money in the process. If you are looking for ideas about what you can do with your Jeep I guess it is an ok buy, but there are much better free resources out there online. I suggest just googling "JK forums". There are a bunch out there that have far more content, and people who are happy to help you personalize your JK.

I enjoy reading this book. It is something I pick up from time to time as a reference. It is not a how-to book. The information provided is straight forward and helpful. A reasonably competent home mechanic should be able to complete the projects they say you should be able to do. However, there are projects in the book that are very difficult but they lay them out and tell you how hard they are and recommend professional assistance. Aside from a few typo's, most notably an entire page that doesn't go with the photos and the heading, the book is well produced. I found it interesting and useful. I have a 2006 Wrangler Unlimited. The book has projects for most jeeps and uses various versions of the Wrangler. There are a few JK only projects but the book is clearly not a JK only book.
