5.0 out of 5 stars FOXWORTHY IS ONE FUNNY GUY!
I remember seeing Jeff Foxworthy on TV for the first time back in the 80's and thinking he was pretty funny but that his redneck schtick would soon grow tiresome and he wouldn't last very long. Boy Was I wrong! Nearly 20 years later Foxworthy is going stronger than he ever has and his material stays fresh all the time. I guess we all like to laugh at the dumb things in...

3.0 out of 5 stars Was a gift....
It was okay, according to the recipient. Not as good as his CD's.

5.0 out of 5 stars FOXWORTHY IS ONE FUNNY GUY!, December 9, 2005

I remember seeing Jeff Foxworthy on TV for the first time back in the 80's and thinking he was pretty funny but that his redneck schtick would soon grow tiresome and he wouldn't last very long. Boy Was I wrong! Nearly 20 years later Foxworthy is going stronger than he ever has and his material stays fresh all the time. I guess we all like to laugh at the dumb things in life and the fact that he's so popular among those he skewers is testament to just how funny he is. From books to CD's to Television, he continues to be one of the funniest comedians in the game. The Redneck Dictionary will have you laughing your rear off with it's clever words and phrases and their "true" meanings. Let's face it...those of us who don't live in the south absolutely need this book! Fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential translation guide to the South...!, December 6, 2005
By
This review is from: Jeff Foxworthy's Redneck Dictionary: Words You Thought You Knew the Meaning Of (Hardcover)
Man, this is one funny book...! Following on the heels of his massively successful 'Blue Collar Comedy Tour,' Jeff Foxworthy expounds upon one particular element from his stand-up routine where he 'translates' Southern redneck dialect for more "sophisticated" audiences. Foxworthy takes seemingly mundane words and reveals their double-meanings in the world of redneck-speak, such as "innuendo" ("hey, what's that innuendo?")... The Redneck Dictionary is not only clever, it's an absolute work of comic genius. If you love Jeff and his comedy, especially the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, then this book is a definite "must-have" - perfect for stocking-stuffers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!, March 13, 2006
This review is from: Jeff Foxworthy's Redneck Dictionary: Words You Thought You Knew the Meaning Of (Hardcover)
My fourteen-year-old daughter and I are both big fans of Jeff Foxworthy and his blue collar humor! One little skit he likes to run is his redneck dictionary, wherein he shows how words have entirely different meanings to rednecks. Well, now you can read all of his hilarious redneck words in one book, and this is it!

My daughter and I both love Jeff Foxworthy, and we both love this book. If you like Jeff's offbeat humor, then you will love this book as well. We give it two thumbs up!

4.0 out of 5 stars Gain a new perspecive of your vocabulary, December 11, 2005
This review is from: Jeff Foxworthy's Redneck Dictionary: Words You Thought You Knew the Meaning Of (Hardcover)
Jeff Foxworthy's, Redneck Dicitonary, is one of the funniest books I have ever read. It was so entertaining that I read the whole thing in one sitting-that's just how good it was. Unlike what most people would call a "normal" book intended for adults, Foxworthy's has hilarious illustrations on almost every page and not a lot of verbiage per page. Also unlike the normal "dictionary" it does not include every word-just the funny ones. An example of his humor is shown in an excerpt, "Cap-i-tal, n. and v. regarding an action concerning the future of any covering used to close off a receptacle. "Careful with that bottle-if you don't put on that capital spill." -pg 20. Get it? Jeff Foxworthy brings up an entirely new perspective of our English language that many of us never thought about. So gain a new perspective and read this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars You Don't Have to Understand "Southern Humor" to Laugh With Jeff Foxworthy, May 31, 2006
This review is from: Jeff Foxworthy's Redneck Dictionary: Words You Thought You Knew the Meaning Of (Hardcover)
Anyone from "Small Town Rural America" will enjoy any and all of Jeff Foxworthy's humor (that is, if you have a sense of humor). I grew up in small Illinois town and I laugh my "tail" off when listening to Mr. Foxworthy. I know and have met his "people", been to his "places" and know and most likely did his "things". You do not have to know and understand "Southern Humor"--you just have to be able to use your imagination and/or experience. He is a God given JOY!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Morphophonemic Alterations, July 29, 2007
For us rednecks this word is way too big. But I can't think of what else to call it. Jeff Foxworthy's three Redneck Dictionaries are full of "morphophonemic alterations."
On the other hand, we don't need to actually know the techincal definition to enjoy them.
