5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing images
I've bought Jeff Palmer Calendars for over 10 years. They changed the format last year to have the images take much more focus than the calendar. At first I was bothered but then fell in love with the images all over again. It looks like this years calendar has been changed to help with the dates. But it doesn't matter -- I simply put a post it note at the bottom if...

I have purchased the last 3 years of Jeff Palmer calendars. This review is from: Jeff Palmer 2011 (Calendar)
I have purchased the last 3 years of Jeff Palmer calendars. The format has always been great, well-composed erotic photos at the top half, and a true calendar below with dated squares in which to note important dates, record appointments and notes holidays. I purchased this expecting it would be in the same format. Stupid me; and stupid Amazon and other websites for not showing the format so you know what you are really buying!

This year the format is a larger format, flip-over, and in the bottom 1" (literally!) it notes the month and below that, a row of numbers 1 through 30 or 1 through 31. It's useless from a practical standpoint, but very hot pictures from an aesthetic standpoint.

So if you want large well-composed erotic photos by an excellent photographer and you just want photos in a flip-over format for each month, this is for you and it's great. If however, you want a calendar like all of Jeff Palmer's past calendars with the same great photography as well as functionality, this is an absolute loser and I am extremely disappointed in the change and in the lack of disclosure regarding format.

I want my money back! or maybe I'll just give it to someone...

4.0 out of 5 stars Art Calendar, December 2, 2011
This review is from: Jeff Palmer 2012 (Calendar)
This calendar is large and there is no fold to ruin the photos. The photos are black & white poses. The calendar aspect is more or less useless - a simple line with the numbers 1 through 30 or 31 at the bottom of the page. I would not buy this to use a calendar, but as art.

I've bought Jeff Palmer Calendars for over 10 years. They changed the format last year to have the images take much more focus than the calendar. At first I was bothered but then fell in love with the images all over again. It looks like this years calendar has been changed to help with the dates. But it doesn't matter -- I simply put a post it note at the bottom if there's a date I need to remember. This calendar is about beautiful fine art black and white male nudes -- the best of the best. Kudos Jeff for elevating the male nude above porn into fine art.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet, Eloquent Sensuality, September 27, 2011

This review is from: Jeff Palmer 2012 (Calendar)
Jeff Palmer is a photographic artist who manages to find in the human form those aspects that are most private and most vulnerable, In this Calendar he samples portraits of men alone and men together, never in the throes of passion but instead in the silence of need and tenderness. Each of these beautifully rendered photographs suggests repose, tranquility, absorption in the beauty of the male form appreciating the Grecian grace that comes with health and care of the physique. At times he pairs images of the same model in sleeping form, and in awakening to the realities of and personal pleasures of day, while at other times he concentrates on the form at rest or sleep, in bed with subtle light or in the beauty of nature outdoors.

The images of men together are particularly significant in that they are not in active gratification, but instead in those moments of repose, tenderness and warmth that are the moods here. There are some images that are simply faces where touch is the model's hand supporting his face - the message is in the eyes - while others capture sculptural curves in isolated body parts, alone and shared. Waiting for a new book by Jeff Palmer, at least we have photographs of beautifully healthy male models who just happen to be sharing the pleasure of the care of their bodies. This is a sensitive, moody, gentle, respectful praise of the male nude and Jeff Palmer knows how to capture this as well as any artist today. Grady Harp, September 11
