I purchased these socks for my 5 year old and they are great. They are tall so will be nice for the winter. You just need to know you are ordering sock size NOT shoe size and the appropriate size for my son who wears a 10 shoe was the 7-8 sock size.

Great product, great price. Note that sock sizes indicate size of foot in inches -- a 7" foot is a size 7 sock. My son wears a 13 shoe and the 7/8 size socks fit him really well -- no bunching inside his boots. I got the ones with the gray bottom, which allows him to see how to get the sock on just right, with all the seams where they're most comfortable. The bottom of the sock is thicker than the top, so it provides good cushioning and should wear well. 80% cotton, but the rest is synthetic materials so that it stretches and keeps its shape well, and does not shrink noticeably in the wash.

Since the sizing is a bit confusing, here is some help...

These socks are sized in inches, the numbers will be about the length of the child's feet.

Here are some rough guidelines to help you choose the size:

Size 5-6 socks = Size 3 to 7-1/2 shoes = 1 to 2 years

Size 6-7 socks = Size 6 to 11-1/2 shoes = 1-1/2 to 4 years

Size 7-8 socks = Size 9 to 1-1/2 shoes = 3 to 7 years

Size 8-9 socks = Size 12 to 6-1/2 shoes = 5 to 10 years

I just recieved these socks in the 9-11 size and they are very large and look like an adult size. The socks are also a thick sock.

They don't come with any colored seams or logos to distinguish between sizes, and the L/M are close in size once they've been through the dryer. I have to carefully line up each sock to verify its size. It's such a pain for sorting that I'm tempted to go back to the Hanes socks, even though they wear out so fast.

But if you don't have to sort socks, these are great. Thick, a little high on the calf for crew socks. They'll probably last the winter for my boys. I docked a star because of the sorting issue, and the calf height.

My boys' bare feet measure 8 1/2 inches from big toe to heel when they are standing with their weight on them. I ordered the 8-9 based on the advice of another reviewer, who said "Note that sock sizes indicate size of foot in inches -- a 7" foot is a size 7 sock". In general, I agree with this assessment, but the socks are very snug - almost too small, and next time I'll try the next size up. They are thick, but I don't think moreso than other sport-type socks. The cloth is high quality, soft, and offers a lot of cushion. They are my boys' favorite socks, so I guess mine too!

This is what I was looking for. They are thick and soft. My son wears shoe size 10 and sock size 6-7 were perfect for him.

So far these are turning our to be some of the best socks we have found for our 11 year old boy. The material is good and the socks are well made and they are holding up very well. Time is always a test of good clothing but so far our boy loves them.

These socks hold up just as well as Stride Rite seamless comfort socks! My child has not noticed any diffenence. The best part is, they are inexpensive!

My 6 year old has screamed and hollered every morning since I can remember about "bumps " in his socks. Only solace I've had is summer and the use of crocs and no socks. These socks have made each morning so pleasant I've "almost" forgotten about the screaming. They are awesome, will not be buying anything else.
