5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book and author!
When I first read this book at the age of eleven, I loved it because it was so easy to follow. Now I am fifteen , and I can't count how many times I've read it. It is still one of my favorite books. After reading this one, I was able to find all of the authors books, and read them all. I now own all but the two most recent ones. I n fact this book changed my life in a...

2.0 out of 5 stars This book is written well and is very dramatic.
This eloquently written book overemphasizes a dramatic teenage New England summer. This author has excellent word choice which will keep a reader reading this book until the very last page. Emphasizing relationships, this book gets the reader to think how the main character's life relates to him/her. All in all this is a very powerful and stunning book.

I used to absolutely despise reading, and now it is one of my favorite things. It's true, "There is no Frigate like a Book"! Thank you Mary Downig Hahn, and continue to write wonderful books!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars True to the time of life, and the location, June 25, 2004

This was one of my favorite books in my young adulthood. Soon after I had moved away from my bayfront house in the town in the book (yes, it's a real town!) I discovered this book on the library shelves. I was amazed that the author was able to capture the essence of North Beach so well. She also does a very good job with the relationships of the girls...I remember that age and the so called "friends" I made. For me it will always be a reminder of my childhood. Highly recommended from someone who has been there :)

And to correct a previous review from someone...This did not take place in New England...Baltimore and North Beach are both in Maryland.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Memory, December 1, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Jellyfish Season (Avon Camelot Books) (Paperback)
I first read this when I was ten years old, and I searched for years for something like it. I related to it, and thrived on this book as a child. After many years, I still think of this book with warm memories and recommend it for any child growing up, dealing with confusing feelings. It helped me and made me feel not so alone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!, November 7, 1999
By A Customer

This is a great a book... but I only think it deserves four stars. This book may make girls think it's okay to lie, cheat, and disobey their parents. Although it's just the setting for the great, wonderful story, be careful. Other than that, A GREAT BOOK!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read!, July 27, 2001

This review is from: The Jellyfish Season (Avon Camelot Books) (Paperback)
I first read this book when I was in Middle School and now that I'm almost 21, it still ranks right at the top of my list of all-time favorites! A great book for a mother and daughter to read together.

4.0 out of 5 stars Childhood memories, March 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Jellyfish Season (Avon Camelot Books) (Paperback)
I first read this book when I was 10, and it's been a favorite of mine for 5 years now. Even today, it powerfully conveys the difficulty of growing up. Kathleen has insecurities about her looks, longings for love, and conflict in her family. As I read, I feel as if I'm right there with her as she rebels and grows. The story is so realistic, with great dialogue. I'd reccomend it to any girl who's having a rough time being teenager. "The Jellyfish Season" is also a roadmap for preteens who don't know what to expect and a trip down memory lane for women who've already been there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Memorable and Priceless, September 13, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Jellyfish Season (Avon Camelot Books) (Paperback)
This book brings back some pretty nice memories for me. I read it for the first time when I was eleven years old and, up until I was about sixteen, read it once a year. Hahn's writing is meaty and delightfully visceral, and the dialogue is appreciatively sharp. If ever there was a book that could appropriately be termed "coming-of-age," this is it. Older readers will look back on the warmth of their younger days, rememember, and smile.
