5.0 out of 5 stars JEM! JEM! JEM!, February 27, 2000

This review is from: Jem - Fashion Fiasco (Vol. 2) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
JEM is Truly Outrageous! Episodes include "Stitches" and "Culture Clash." I haven't seen the episode of "Stitches" in such a long time! It's my most favorite episode ever! JEM and the Holograms are chosen to be contestants for a Rock'n Roll fashion contest, and Shana is given the chance to design the Holograms' outfits. The mischievious Misfits somehow stole her designs and used them as their own! In the end of the story, you'll see who gets the last laugh, with the help of Synergy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Cartoon Based on the Hasbro Toy Line, December 30, 2000
By

This review is from: Jem - Fashion Fiasco (Vol. 2) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Although I am a guy, "Jem" was one of my favorite cartoon series while growing up in New York City. Airing almost weekday morning at 8am on Channel 11, "Jem" was shown right before the station aired my favorite cartoon series, "The Transformers." "Jem" was Hasbro's answer to Mattel's ever-popular "Barbie" toy line, and unlike the latter, "Jem" was truly more fascinating and interesting.

"Jem - Vol. 2: Fashion Fiasco" contains two episodes "Stitches" and "Culture Clash." In the first episode, Jem and her band, the Holograms, travel to Venice, where bandmate Shana has entered her designs in a fashion contest. As usual, trouble shows its' ugly head as their rivals, the Misfits, also travel to Venice to enter the contest and cause havoc.

In "Culture Clash," the band travels to New York to film a video with one of the top avant-garde director out there. While not quite Andy Warhol, this director has an unusual way of annoying the band. However, when he is linked with a series of jewel robberies, the band gets involved to help clear his name.

It's great that Rhino Video has released this series and many other cartoon shows based of Hasbro toy lines (e.g., "The Transformers"; "G.I. Joe"; etc....). I hope they decided to release more of "Jem" on video, and hopefully on DVD in the near future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep these videos coming!, April 26, 2000

This review is from: Jem - Fashion Fiasco (Vol. 2) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I love these cartoons! They are a terrific mix of music, great stories, and out and out fun. This video contains the episodes "In Stitches" and "Culture Clash". In the first episode Jem and the Holograms travel to Venice for Shana to compete in a rock fashion contest. There Shana has to deal with her insecurities, as well as the Misfits, who'll do anything to come out on top. In the second, the girls go to New York to shoot their new video with an avant-garde artist. They soon realise that his art doesn't mesh with their idea of this video, then they are ensnared in a jewel smuggling ring to boot. Let's hope Rhino releases some more of these great cartoons soon, because there are lots of Jem episodes that people haven't had a chance to see in years. Besides that, we have a whole new generation who is just learning who Jem is.
