5.0 out of 5 stars Deftly Executed!, March 23, 2005
This review is from: Jenkins: Consort Music (Audio CD)
The Apollo Consort, a period-instrument ensemble, performs works by John Jenkins (1592-1678).

"Jenkins is probably the finest English composer for instruments of the mid-seventeenth century, so this recording which mixes stunning divisions for two bass viols with fantasias and suites for a trio of violin and two basses (with organ) promises well. The Apollo Consort's playing is rhythmically alive and their sound is intimate, with the fast divisions deftly executed." (Gramophone)

The works on this recording:

1. Fantasia Suite No 1 in G minor
2. Suite in D minor
3. Fantasia & Ayre in A minor
4. Fantasia in D minor
5. Aria in A major
6. Fantasia Suite No 5 in C major
7. Divisions in G minor
8. Fantasia a tre in G minor
9. Fantasia a tre in A minor
10. Divisions in A major
11. Suite in D major
12. Fantasia Suite No 7 in D minor
