Dennis Jenkinson - Premier Motor Sports Journalist, August 2, 2004
This review is from: Jenks: A Passion for Motor Sport (Hardcover)
This book was not really written by S. Moss (he did the forward) but is a compilation of articles by Jenkinson who was England's foremost racing journalist from the sport's post-war revival until ill health forced his semi-retirement in the mid-1990's. During this era he reported on racing and cars for the British monthly Motor Sport. "Jenks" raced motorcycles in his youth and was Moss' co-pilot when they won the Mille Migila for Mercedes in 1955 so he wrote from the perspective of a participant and competitor. Pithy and opinionated, yes, but his writing remains the best record of the sport from his time. He always managed to get to the bottom of the story and had the respect of the most important drivers and team owners. A great book for the F1 enthusiast and fan of racing from the 50's through the 80's.
