5.0 out of 5 stars My pond is bald, June 29, 2009

This review is from: WeedRazer Aquatic Weed Cutter
We had a heavy infestation of underwater weeds in our pond, along with some above water reeds and tall grasses in the shallow end. The weed razor was easier to use than we had anticipated. Just toss it in and weeds were floating everywhere.Just be careful to keep hold of the rope, we tossed the big razor rope and all on the first toss. LOL We did end up buying a floating rake because the infestation was so heavy. Just be careful it is VERY SHARP. I would not let children or pets around while using it, we were worried if the razor got stuck on a rock or something we might have to jerk it and get our heads cut off, but the rake easily glided along the bottom of the pond.A dose of Aquashade and we are still weed free over a month later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Weed Razor Pro, February 18, 2011
This review is from: WeedRazer Aquatic Weed Cutter
The Weed Razor Pro worked as easy as it looks. Remember to tie off your rope as we lost it on the first throw, came right out of my hand... We were removing thick cattails. We found that you need to start close to the shore. If you try to cut thru a lot of cat tails, it makes it harder to pull in the Weed Razor. Work in 5 ft increments until stubs are all that are left. Then keep going over the same area, each time it will drop deeper and chop off all of the cattail down to the bottom. When you start bringing up dead vegetation and leaves, you can move to a new area of the pond. We added extra rope to the weed Razor to be able to throw it farther out in the pond. Sharpen the blades every hour to make cutting easier. Small rocks and wood can dull the blades. We found it easier to put the rope around your hip area and walk backwards making small jerking motions. Angle the blades inward so your not cutting so much at first, then widen them once your down to stubs sticking out of the water.
Also, very important! Were GLOVES! You can get very nasty rope burns on your fingers that you don't really notice happening until it's too late. Most of the time your having too much fun with the thing to want to stop.
I'd recommend the Weed Rake. You'll have so many cattails in the water with each cast that a normal short handled rake just doesn't keep up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised, October 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Worked as advertised. Remember to do the short jerks when retrieving. In very thick pond weed I had to make two passes to complete the process. It loaded up enough on the first pass some weeds did not get cut. Second pass cleaned things out very well.
