Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 3-5-- White uses a narrative approach to describe Capriati's tennis career from her amateur days to her rookie season as a professional. She does a nice job of analyzing her playing techniques and her performance in the major tennis tournaments. This is an informative book about the young woman's career, but there's little about her childhood and teenage life. Also, the book lacks statistics, a bibliography, and a glossary. The full-color photographs make it attractive, but Morrissette's Jennifer Capriati ( Sports Illustrated for Kids , 1991) is the title of choice. --Bruce Lee Siebers, Free Library of Philadelphia

More About the Author

Ellen Emerson White has lived in New york City for many years, but still hankers for New England a bit.

She roots for the Red Sox, even when they are not at their best.

She is wicked private.

I bought this book because Ellen Emerson White is my favorite author. It turns out that she didn't even write this book! She says on her official Facebook page that it's an accident that her name is even on it.

Don't buy it! The writing is terrible and if you can't even trust the publishers to put the right author's name on the book, how can you trust any of the facts?
