5.0 out of 5 stars A great album
This is a really great album. I have a very large collection of country music, and this is one of the best albums in the whole bunch. I think it is very well written, very well produced, and Jennifer's performances are great. The album has a nice variety of upbeat, cool stuff and thoughtful ballads. Jennifer's voice reminds me most of Roseann Cash, but that's not a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised
Don't be fooled by the three stars--I'm just picky with my music.
I picked up this CD in the store on just a whim. I was familiar with "Beautiful Goodbyes", but I can't say I especially liked the song. However, there is more to this CD than just that single. The standout tracks, in my opinion, are the upbeat "Travis" and "One Little Word", as well as the slower...

Jennifer's voice reminds me most of Roseann Cash, but that's not a bad thing. If you are looking for traditional country, this isn't it. If you're looking for some great music to turn up and enjoy, this may be what you're looking for. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Don't be fooled by the three stars--I'm just picky with my music.
I picked up this CD in the store on just a whim. I was familiar with "Beautiful Goodbyes", but I can't say I especially liked the song. However, there is more to this CD than just that single. The standout tracks, in my opinion, are the upbeat "Travis" and "One Little Word", as well as the slower ballads "Baby, I Was Wrong" and "Simply Yours". In fact, the beginning arrangement on "Simply Yours" sounds a lot like the opening to Jann Arden's version of "You Don't Know Me", so if you liked that song or those types of ballads, I'm pretty sure you'll find something to like on this CD.
Bottom Line: If you have some cash to blow or just feel like listening to something new, this release is worth your while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut, March 24, 2003

This review is from: Jennifer Hanson (Audio CD)
I bought this CD the second day it was out and have been enjoying it ever since. My favorite songs are This Far Gone and All Those Yesterdays, but there's really no song I don't care for. I'm also impressed with Jennifer Hanson as a true artist. She co-wrote 9 of 11 tracks as well as co-produced the CD. Unbelievable artistic freedom for a debut! I feel she came through in a big way and shows the faith her label has in her is well founded.

This debut by new artist JENNIFER HANSON is a delight from start to finish. The first single BEAUTIFUL GOODBYE is a great uptempo jam....the album is filled with great ballads and great uptempo numbers......it will be fun to watch her career blossom!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Enjoyable Listen, April 4, 2006
This review is from: Jennifer Hanson (Audio CD)
This is most definitely not a traditional country album. Indeed, much of it isn't particularly country at all. However, the disc is simply very enjoyable to listen to, and isn't that the most important thing of all? I get it out from time to time and listen to it all the way through without any temptation to skip ahead. Particularly good are "Beautiful Goodbye" "Travis" and "Half a Heart Tatoo." The ballads are strong too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great new artist, August 20, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jennifer Hanson (Audio CD)

Jennifer Hanson is one of my favorite new artists on the country music scene. Her debut CD shows her awesome range from the rockin' Sheryl Crow-esque "Beautiful Goodbye" to the bluesy "Simply Yours". I like the upbeat, fun songs ("Beautiful Goodbye", "Half a Heart Tattoo" and "Get Yourself Back") the most. "Travis" has a serious message, while "All Those Yesterdays" and "This Far Gone" are great ballads.

This CD has a lot of depth and emotion. Jennifer Hanson is not only an excellent singer, but she plays guitar and writes most of her own songs. She going to be the next big thing in country and I look forward to hearing a lot more from her!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning debut!, August 8, 2003
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jennifer Hanson (Audio CD)

I have really enjoyed this CD since it came out. There is a lot of passion in Jennifer Hanson's voice. The songs run the gamut from fun ("Get Yourself Back") to love lost ("This Far Gone") and one with a serious message ("Travis"). I really like the upbeat songs like "Beautiful Goodbye" and "Half A Heart Tattoo" (about a guy who is not as good as he seems). Jennifer Hanson outshines Faith Hill on "Simply Yours".

This CD features a great range of song types and styles - country to blues and pop - I highly recommend it!

I read the editorial review posted above and I disagree with the reviewer's assessment that Jennifer Hanson is "a radio act, pure and simple." Having listened to this CD now several times, I'm quite impressed both by the diversity of song styles and the richness of Hanson's voice--at times it has a Trisha Yearwood quality, although at times it leans a little more toward the pop music side. I think Jennifer Hanson has a great sound and her material is fun and memorable. "Beautiful Goodbyes" is stuck in my head, "Half a Heart Tattoo" is a quirky song and "Simply Yours" almost has a torch-song like sound.

Welcome, Jennifer, to the country music world! I predict great things from you...

4.0 out of 5 stars Top country with a bite!, February 20, 2003
This review is from: Jennifer Hanson (Audio CD)
While Nashville superstars ...have completely lost their country sound while trying to become the next Celine Dion, there are always a few very welcome throwbacks to a slightly more rootsy style. So meet Jennifer Hanson, whose dad played in Alabama, who enters the ring with this fine new album. It's densely-produced, but fairly rootsy, rock-flavored Nashville country, with more than a nod or two towards roots-rock foremothers Rosanne Cash and Sheryl Crowe. Hanson's best on the upbeat numbers -- some of the ballads just don't fly -- and she's got several catchy tunes here that might get her into the Top Country stratosphere. I like "Half A Heart Tattoo," myself; it's a funny, catchy song that's sure to catch on pretty quickly. This album's a nice surprise -- I hope Nashville comes up with a few more just like it!

Yes, this cd is "radio friendly," but don't dismiss it because it's easy to enjoy the first time around. "Beautiful Goodbye" is a catchy lead off single, and I'm sure anyone who enjoys it will find at least several other songs to put on their latest mix tape. I'm one person who's looking forward to more great tunes from Ms. Hanson in the years to come.
