I love all the songs, are great, the Timbaland's song "HE'LL BE BACK" gonna be a Hit, is R&B like "Cry Me A River" of Justin Timberlake.
Also love the 3rd single "STEP INTO MY WORLD" pruduced by Rodney Jerkins, it'a a hot single!
Jennifer I'm soooooo proud of you baby !

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, Bad DVD, June 19, 2005
This review is from: Jennifer Lopez: Rebirth (Audio CD)
I am a Jennnifer Lopez fan but I have also seen many faults in her music over the years and I don't think Rebirth is one of them. It is a shame this album hasn't done that well but I think that is mainly down to the poor second single. Anyway for those of you who haven't heard it here is my track by track review:

1: Get Right - the first single with the catchy hook. My first impression was that it was good but as a first single she could have done better but then I saw the video (which is on the dual disc) and my love for the song grew. The horn is slightly annoying if you focus on it and not the words, the hip hop mix is a much better version of the song and that can be found on the Hold You Down single in the UK. 7/10

2: Step Into My World - great song, one of my favourites. Her voice sounds soft and sophisticated and is perfect for the song. It has quite a hypnotic sound and I think it would have been perfect for a single. 8/10

3: Hold You Down - such a disapointment for me, I really think it sounds like a bad version of All I Have. The remix of this song by Corey Rooney which is also on the UK single of Hold You Down is much better than this. This is actually the only J.Lo single which I haven't really liked but it still isn't that bad a song. 3/10

4: Whatever You Wanna Do - when I first heard the album this song stood out. It sounds a lot like Ameries "1 thing" no wonder really as Rich Harrison produced both. It is very funky and makes you wanna dance. It is rumoured to be the 3rd and final single, typical J.Lo. 8/10

5: Cherry Pie - Jennifer's personal favourite and one of only two songs that she wrote for the album. Probably the only pop song on the album, with a slight hint of a rocky beat. She sounds great and once again this would have been a great single. It is my 2nd favourite on the album. 9/10

6: I Got U - Nice enough, darkchild song. Very much an album track, nothing really that special but a nice upbeat song, she seems to be trying a lot more on this song with her voice. 5/10

7: Still Around - although it won't win any awards I do like this song a lot, the only part which annoys me is the man in the middle talking to her. A summery sort of song which really suits her voice. 7/10

8: Ryde or Die - the Brandy cast off, you can still hear her voice on the song. This is the sort of album song which isn't really worth commenting on, it's not good it's not bad it's just nothing really. 4/10

9: I, Love - I like this song because although the beat is very typical it still works. The lyrics are very sweet. One thing Jennifer seems to be able to do with this album is pick songs which she knows will suit her voice and this one deffinitly does. 7/10

10: He'll Be Back - One of the songs I will skip to straight away, the sort of song that seems so personal and that you could imagine would have been about Ben Affleck yet she never wrote it. The lyrics are actually the best part of this song, and i'm sure a lot of people would be able to relate to them in some way. 8/10

11: Can't Believe This Is Me - Here we go my favourite song. I love this song for a few reasons, one is that it is so different to anything that she has ever done before. Her voice sounds better than it ever has and she sings with real passion - maybe as this is one of the other songs that she wrote. The lyrics are once again brilliant. I think even if the rest of the album was awful (which it isn't) that she could make up for it with this one song. Brilliant, in my eyes it is a perfect song. 10/10

It is a bit annoying that she wrote so much on This Is Me...Then to so little on this, but at the end of the day a good album is a good album and this is. It has lots of different styles and isn't the sort of album you get bored listening to half way through (This Is Me...Then).

The documentary on the DVD lasts 6 minutes and still it features most of the get right video in it again. It really isn't worth it unless you are a hardcore Jennifer fan, not for the casual buyer.

This review is from: Jennifer Lopez: Rebirth (Audio CD)
I just started to really get into JLo when i listened to her This is me.....Then album a few years ago so i made a promise to buy her next album...and all i can say is: i'm addicted to this album. i liked every song on this album except "whatever u wanna do"..the beat is kinda off i think.(that is why 4 stars)
I actually like "This is me....Then" a lil more but they kinda have the same R&B vibe. The Dual Disc is worth the money if u liked the "Get Right" video's...Plus it has a documentary about the making of Rebirth and the whole album in surround sound ( can come in handy if ur hosting a houseparty in surround sound)...so pretty cool i'll say...Seriously, go get this album if ur a JLo fan and if ur not, after this album u'll b one!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A star is reborn, March 1, 2005
This review is from: Jennifer Lopez: Rebirth (Audio CD)
This cd is far superior than her 2002 effort, This Is Me...Then. This cd offers smooth R&B beats such as Step Into My World, Still Around, and He'll Be Back. It also has upbeat dance tunes which include Get Right, Whatever You Wanna Do, and Cherry Pie. It is a wonderful mixture of music! You will not be sorry for buying this. The dual disc is great to have also; it includes both versions of the Get Right video, one of them featuring Fabolous, and a documentary of Rebirth. It is worth the money. You will not be sorry with this purchase. Good job J. Lo!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every cent that I paid, March 17, 2005
This review is from: Jennifer Lopez: Rebirth (Audio CD)
The dual disc version is really worth the price. The DVD has the entire album in enhanced stereo and has exclusive documentary of the rebirth. It has also the 2 videos of Get Right. Aside from that, the album has 12 carefully chosen songs.. I guarantee that you will not skip a track.

5.0 out of 5 stars J.Lo Get's It Right!, December 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jennifer Lopez: Rebirth (Audio CD)
Someone working in the field J.Lo does was probably expected to have faded away at this point in their career. After all it is the pop world and stars shine bright and fade fast;we all know the clishe. Underneath her commercial hits though J.Lo always had this streak of artistic credibility. Her compositions mixing latin-funk flavors with a kind of densely chorded modern pop were actually very good but, because again of her place in the world of celeberties it's doubtfull anyone ever bother anylyzing her artistic merrits. This is her fourth album. Released during a very very bad time for record sales in general and very much overlooked and often slammed what makes this album so good for J.Lo? Well her voice is actually fairly elastic for one thing:considering this album features none of her compositions and is handled by the very trendy Rodney Jerkins and his crew the she is able to both wail emotionally in the right places and hiss like so many teen sex kittens to be heard on pop radio. Her singing can kind of trick you like a magician;she doesn't have an incredible range but she has no problem working in both the world of the artist and doing the pop diva routine. There are two incredible funk jams here with some really hot horn samples in the big hit "Get Right" and "Cherry Pie" were J.Lo actually mocks and funs everyone with her impressions of the teeny bopper idles she's considered to be a part of. Most people might chalk it up to a lack of talent but,if you listen closely to her intonations there is a bit of parody involved in much the same way Prince has done in the past. The majority of the rest of the album focuses on J.Lo letting go of her heavy radio pop and latin flavors and focusing more on beat heavy funky hip-hop type tunes that are, while not her compositions have her style on "Step Into My World:,"Hold You Down" with Fat Joe,"Ryde Or Die" and "He'll Be Back". On "Still Around" J.Lo goes for a soul type of approch and actually borrows (but not steals) a few helpful chordal lines from Luther Vandross's hit Never Too Much. "(Can't Believe) This Is Me" could've very easily been overblown (and maybe even pretentious) with it's orchestration and dramatic delivery but considering J.Lo's public persona but it actually may even hold it's own with a Stevie Wonder epic of past years or,perhaps more appropriatly for the era something from Aaliyah. Having the DualDisk of this album is something you'll want to do: it features both "Get Right" videos and a documentary on the making of the this album.
This is probably a lot more overlooked then it should be and considering J.Lo's "rebirth" involved healthy helpings of funk and a sense of musical ambition I have to give the gal some props for that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad at All!!, January 26, 2007
This review is from: Jennifer Lopez: Rebirth (Audio CD)
I'm huge Jennifer Lopez fan. I have all of her CD's and I love hr music. I know she doesn't have the greatest voice, but when she uses it the right way it doesn't sound bad.

"Rebirth" is a really good pop album. There's a lot of realy smooth R&B tracks like "Step Into My World", "Ride or Die", and "I, Love".

The stand-out track on the album is the lead single "Get Right". My favorit single from Jennifer. The beat is enormously catchy, the James Brown horn sample is an amazing. This song is made for the dancefloor.

Rich Harrison also prduced track four, "Whatever You Wanna Do" which is another old-school funk dance-floor jam in the vein of Beyonce's "Crazy In Love"

The album also includes some cute R&B tracks about love and friendship like "Still Around" (which sounds like a sequel of "Still" from her 'This is Me...Then' album), "I Got U", and "Hold You Down" with Fat Joe.

"Cherry Pie" is a nice little rock/pop jam, and "(Can't Believe) This is Me" is a haunting ballad which Jennifer Sings with a lot of soul.

I think this ia a great album, and I recommend it to anyone who likes light pop music.
